This could be useful for when the Baraqqi hordes start roaming after election day Nov 2012.

Uuuuuugly.
Want one like now.
Anyone have insights on legalities of attaching one to an NFA SBR?

Not to be too cynical, but I wonder how long before these are pointed at American citizens? The para military SWAT teams probably can’t wait to get their hands on these.
After they track us down with drones, they’ll need to subdue us.

Looks like a gimmick to me. Maybe it’s useful to breach a door occasionally?

Forget that thing, they should be issuing the AA12 full auto 12 guage shotgun to someone in the squad instead.

When there are too many, too close for single projectile shooting! I bet the pattern is five feet at five feet.

Yep, great for a twelve foot room, beyond that they may get pissed.

Dumb idea. It should be a separate weapons system, not slung under an M4.

” It weighs 3.5 pounds, has a barrel length of 7.75 inches, fires 12-gauge shells “
Kick like a back-country mule, and an effective range measured in feet - maybe a bit more with flechettes...
Boy. that’s really going to be an effective combat weapon...

If you ask me (you didn’t), it looks like a giant waste of money ruining the accuracy potential (among other things) of a rifle that was only marginaly effective to begin with.

The M26 has been in development at the U.S. Army's Soldier Battle Lab since the late 1990s. The idea was to provide soldiers with lightweight accessory weapons which could be mounted under the standard issue M16 rifle or M4 carbine. These would provide soldiers with additional capabilities, such as: door breaching using special slugs, very short-range increased lethality using 00 buckshot, and non-lethal capabilities using teargas shells, rubber slugs, rubber pellets, or other non-lethal rounds.

I believe that in United State v Miller, in 1938 (?) the Supreme Court upheld the National Firearms Act (1934) which declared short-barreled shotguns to be illegal, in part because they had no military use.
That wasn't true in WWI, wasn't true in 1934, 1938, or today.
