President Barack Obama listed rising gas prices as among the many reasons to extend the payroll tax cut Tuesday, flanked by individuals the White House promoted as being affected by $40 per paycheck the average American would lose if the tax cut is not extended at the end of February.
The payroll tax funds Social Security. Cutting the tax would reduce funding to Social Security by $119 billion over the next year, on top of the $105 billion reduced from funding in 2011.

Frankly I’m surprised Obama hasn’t started a gas card program for the lower classes and urban projects tenants.
Just imagine if the poor and needy that want to embrace the socialism sweet sirens songs of entitlement suddenly has almost free gas?
40 dollars a paycheck? Weekly? Biweekly? Why doesn’t he use normal terms - 2 percent of a paycheck, with a ceiling.

You cant bulsh## a bullsh##ter. Every time this guy opens his trap I shut off the tv or radio or I wont have one. It’s amazing to me that when ever he has something to say the silence from the other end is deafening as if it’s ok

Hey, I give this to Obama. He has Republicans in congress running scared on this issue. They have no remaining ideas but to cave to his demands and then claim it was their idea to start with.
I still dont know what those Republicans think their purpose is.

I just saw Mika on the Morning Joe say that Republicans are complicit with the raiding of SS because they are making this ‘deal’ with Obama.
Of course 6 or so weeks ago she was critical of the same Republicans for demanding that these FICA/SS taxes be paid for.

Yes, she does seem to think she actually knows something. Look how well Michael Steele worked out.
Rush has been similarly inconsistent on this issue. In December he said that Republicans must take a stand on the FICA tax cuts must being ‘paid for’ with spending cuts, but exactly a year earlier during the Bush tax cut debate (when this FICA tax cut first started) Rush was lecturing that tax cuts should never have to be ‘paid for’ with spending cuts.
After being led to the edge of a cliff with no real plan congressional Republicans just look terrified of Obama and are pre-emptively surrendering.
One freeper told me that Republicans NEW strategy is to help Obama run up as much debt as possible so the limit is exceeded before the election.
