Amen, and Amen. There was a thread posted earlier in the year that said there were tens of thousands of new laws going into effect this year (as every other year), accross the nation (I believe it was 40,000). There are something like 10,000 pages to the Federal criminal code. There are so many laws, it is literally IMPOSSIBLE to know all of them let alone keep all of them. Consider that the avergae person knows about 3,000 words in their native language, maybe 5,000 if they are particularly literate/verbose (say a journalist, or lawyer). There are so many laws, that people commit on average 3 felonies per day, at the Federal level—alone!
And you’re right, the states have their own gaggle of laws. God did not intend for man to be ruled with an iron fist. There’s no choice, no growth, no “nothing” under that life. It’s merely an ever increasing living hell. And people need to wake up, now.
And yet, what is it we are told when we violate one of these? Ignorance of the law is no excuse.
Many of these laws make absolutely good sense. Lawmakers cleverly couch them under the names of victims. Here in NY, we have Leandra's Law - New York is one of 36 states in the nation with special child endangerment laws that impose tougher sanctions on individuals who place a child passenger at risk while driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. There are 'animal cruelty laws' named for the creatures who suffered abuse and/or death; there are child predatory laws named for victims. And the list goes on and on.
What will it take to wake up the American electorate? Rush Limbaugh today commented on how Obama and supporters are positioning Republicans as the party that will deny women of their birth control. He pointed out that these messages are directed toward the many Americans so caught up in the death of Whitney Houston, that they will receive this news without question.
