“IF my kids were still in school here is what I would do. I would sit them down and explain to them why they would not be returning to school and I would tell the school the same thing. Then I would tell them they would be home schooled and that we would be moving to another country and tell them why.”

(This post isn’t just to you, but I’m responding to an excellent point you made):

I would never, ever, ever, subject my kids to public school. Sending kids off to communist indoctrination camps IS tantamount to child abuse. I watched the argument here on FR for a long time, and didn’t get involved, but I dare say it now: If you put having marginally extra income over the well being of your child, you are an unfit parent. I’m not talking about families with a disabled/deceased parent, I’m talking about people wanting the luxury of having extra things, etc. If debt makes it impossible, either go bankrupt and start over right, or change your habits and fly straight, spending several hours a day de-indoctrinating your kids. Research shows that after expenses you don’t make much more having two parents work, than one (IIRC it was about $1500-$2000 per YEAR).

I’m against socialism of any kind, but if we have to deal with it, I’d rather look at it realistically. Entitlements are going to bankrupt us, within a few years. Absolutely bankrupt us. I’d rather people take the food stamps and pull their kids out of schools (which I have to pay for anyway, through socialism), and do everything they can to get off the welfare programs while teaching their kids correct principles, than to have them sit in the indoctrination camps, mooching off our dollars anyway AND making a good little communist to vote themselves more of our money in future years, and setup dictators. Not to mention that it’s also supporting the teachers, their union goon thugs, and funneling money to corrupt politicians. TAKE AWAY THE EXCUSE: “It’s for the children.”

Regarding government teachers:

Recently, I have decided that government schooling is soooooo evil; is such a spiritual, emotional, and physical abuse to the child; and such a serious threat to our nation; that I will no longer have a government teacher for friend. I am **done** with government teachers.

I don't have abortion clinic workers for friends and I won't have government teachers for friends. They are either too evil, too stupid, or too much of a Useful Idiot to be a friend.

However,....There are a few government teachers who do have a true calling to teach in the government schools, however, these teachers fully expect to be quickly fired. Also, they are very pointedly plain in **warning** parents NOT to send their children into these godless communist indoctrination camps. They absolutely **never** defend government schooling, and they are actively working, on a political level, to see that all government schooling is permanently shut down.

If you know of a government teacher who claims to be “called” by God to teach in the government schools and isn't doing the above, then they are likely “called” by a paycheck and pension and not by God.

I agree with you 100%. When my kids were in school it wasn’t like it is now. There is no way I would let them attend the indoctrination camps. Mine sang CHRISTMAS carols, said the Lord’s prayer, did all the things we used to do. It began to change when my youngest was in high school but we lived in a small town, small school and weren’t really affected. The teachers had a lot of leeway and most of them were Republicans. One history teacher was a liberal and said some things I didn’t like so I told them, change his teacher or he won’t be taking that class and they did.

Nowadays, no way in hell would I let them attend a public school. The NEA needs to be abolished and the power handed back to the states. You don’t like the rules in one state, easier to change them and you can also move to a more friendly one. The Federal government has no constitutional authority to be involved in school curricula. The DEA was created as a political payoff to the teachers unions by Jimmy the peanut farmer Carter in return for their endorsement.

According to the National Center for Education Statistics, DE’s original budget, in 1980, was $13.1 billion, and it employed 450 people. By 2000, it had increased to $34.1 billion, and by 2007 it had more than doubled to $73 billion. The budget request for fiscal 2011 was $77.8 billion, and the department employs 4,800. Bureaucrats have created reams of paperwork for teachers and administrators, pushed dubious curricula, and adopted a ridiculous amount of extra-educational missions. Their website lists hundreds of programs that bear little to no relation to schooling.

The DEA is cesspool of waste....GET RID OF IT, and LEAVE OUR KIDS ALONE! They are there to LEARN, not to be indoctrinated by union members.

Program budget authority request
2011- 12.0 Billion
2012- 40.8 Billion
2013- 36.3 Billion
