Gun bloggers Sebastian and gay cynic responded to the National Gun Victims Action Council recent announcement of a Valentine’s Day Starbucks boycott by organizing a BUYcott. Greg’s asking gun owners to reward Starbucks for its firearms policy by buying a beverage or food item with a two dollar bill (representing the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms) on February 14th. Not forgetting to “thank the clerk for Starbucks’ support of the Constitution.” Ahead of Starbuck’s Appreciation Day–which has now gone viral—our own Tim Tritt contacted the Seattle coffeesmith to voice his support for their support for gun rights. The company emailed him the following . . .

Thank you for your feedback regarding Starbucks’ policy on open carry laws.
At Starbucks, we deeply respect the views of our customers and recognize that there is significant and genuine passion surrounding the issue of open carry weapons laws. We comply with local laws and statutes in the communities we serve. Our long-standing approach to this issue remains unchanged and we abide by the laws that permit open carry in 43 U.S. states. Where these laws don’t exist, openly carrying weapons in our stores is prohibited.
As the public debate around this issue continues, we encourage customers and advocacy groups from both sides to share their input with their public officials. We are extremely sensitive to the issue of gun violence in our society and believe that supporting local laws is the right way for us to ensure a safe environment for both partners and customers.

As a poster above said, we don’t need to thank them for supporting the law. Pandering to perverts is a different issue.
Told the confused Manhattan Barista that my sandwich and coffee were to thank Starbucks for its 2d Amendment support.
Cost eleven bucks in Manhattan for a sandwich and small (aka "Tall") Starbucks coffee, for those outside the area. Two bucks wouldn't buy you a thing in a Manhattan Starbucks, trust me.
For you anti-Gay marriage purists who've been posting, well, you've got to pick your fights. In my view, the 2d Amendment is the most important right because it prevents an abrogation of the other rights we may have. It would be unthinkable for Starbucks to have taken this position ten short years ago, so I think it is well worth it to let them know that rational folks favor gun rights and the companies that support those rights.
So go to Starbucks today.

I agree. Unfortunately, many of the top execs at Starbucks are themselves somewhat social activists and some would like their employees and their customers to see themelves as a “community”, and the customer’s engagement with Starbucks as more than a mere purchase, but an experience.
My experience with Starbucks in my area lends me to believe that 90%+ of the staff and most of the customers do not see themselves as the “community” the Starbucks execs want to promote.
The staff, for the most part, does try to treat the customer well, but people either go for the coffee, or go somewhere else and the staff really just want to do a good job on their shift, and that alone fulfills their committment to the Starbucks “experience”.
If for some reason you don’t like coffee or don’t have a Starbuck’s at your disposal, you can always just sned your money to the Democratic party or local liberal candidate.

And the CEO of Starbucks has called for a boycott on political contributions until Congress gets serious about the defecit, including tax hikes.
I don’t really care about management. I just like the coffee and in most, the staff. Some of them are very busy with people using their free wi-fi, and I can put their app card on my phone so I don’t have to have my wallet with me. All in all, they’re ok by me.
The point is the Brady Bunch called for a boycott of Starbucks on Feb 14, to encourage SB to adopt a "commonsense policy on guns"
If that boycott has effect SB will have less reason to allow RBKA and may decide to follow the law by posting no guns signs instead.
