Mitt Romney is getting some heavy air support in Michigan the state where he was born and raised as the super PAC supporting him invests almost $500,000 on television ads there.
According to someone who tracks Republican media spending, Restore Our Future has committed just over $470,000 for commercials starting Tuesday and set to run through Feb. 20. That marks the groups largest purchase yet in Michigan, where it will have spent more than $700,000 on ads by next week.
The group said Monday that it would continue for now to run an ad called Risk that targets Newt Gingrich using images and attacks that have by now become familiar advertising fodder. It cites the proliferation of earmarks during his tenure as House speaker and shows a shot of him sitting with Nancy Pelosi on a couch in front of the Capitol, a shot taken from a public service announcement on global warming.

As others have hypothesized previously, the actions by Romney and Santorum to target Newt is because it is acceptable to the GOP establishment to destroy the true reformer.
Be prepared to be forced with a Romney/Santorum political marriage this fall.
I will NEVER vote for Romney.
Utter nonsense. This is just typical of Milts massive campaign. It is slow to respond to actual threats and to focus their messages. Too many establishment types are involved in running his campaign and we are seeing the dismal results.
You think Rick’s supporters are able to grasp this? Rick’s having fun with his clueless supporters while feeding the hand of socialism for his own benefit.
It will take a Gingrich/Palin to beat Obama/Hillary.
The word is in.
Actually, you are.
Didn’t think Rick’s supporters could grasp what is going on and no one can tell the proud anything. Dumb is as dumb does.
I wish one of these political geniuses would explain, how ceding Michigan to Romney is a good idea?
Rick is leading in the Migh polls— Newt lagging far behind. So, Mitt goes after Newt. Actually, that makes perfect sense to many of us- no surprise.
Or—It will take a Gingrich/Rubio to beat Obama/Hillary.
Any conservative who adds their name to Mitt, it will be the kiss of death/we will lose with Mitt. I am hearing in DC are saying the word has been confirmed Biden will not be on the ticket.
The word is in— or the fix? -:) Hi Christie, here’s a thread I saved for you (http://thehill.com/blogs/pundits-blog/presidential-campaign/210237-a-brokered-convention-jeb-bush-vs-sarah-palin)

Unreal!
I guess seeing how well it works on gutless conservatives these days, why not keep doing what works?

How many times do we have to tell you that Rick has NOTHING to do a commercial on. He is the perfect candidate with regards to issues. The only thing that gets others upset is his endorsement for Arlen which has been explained numerous times before so Mitt has nothing to do a commercial on Rick. What? Do you want him to do a commercial with the snow going? Remember those days? That might make for interesting novelty but it won’t get people to not vote for Rick. You are just going to have to admit that Rick has ZERO negatives to do a commercial about.
While you're bitching about Santorum supporters, I'm going to explain how things work here. Michigan is seriously contested by two candidates. Romney and Santorum. Newt Gingrich isn't campaigning heavily here. Ron Paul will get his likely 15% or so.
I can vote for Newt whom I don't trust, and split anti-Romney votes. I can vote for Ron Paul, who is actually my 2nd choice. He may get one delegate, who knows. Or I can try and hopefully knock out Mitt Romney who is my absolute last choice.
Yes actually it does, and judging by the posts in this thread it seems to have the desired effect.
If Romney can’t hit Santorum directly with effect, he’ll continue to bash Newt and make it seem like Santorum is a friend, not foe, to Romney. This will force Santorum to get even tougher on Romney or be accused of being in the tank for Romney. And when he gets tougher, the goal will be of Romney to break the wholesome image Santorum has maintained to this point.
Brilliant move on the part of the SuperPac. You’ve seem to have bought what they are doing.
Don’t think for a second the Romney people don’t see the tension brewing between Santorum and Gingrich supporters. It’s all about stirring the pot.
So my question is, are you and the others here going to take the bait or realize the political strategery going on?
Your call.
You sound petty petulent and pre-pubescent.
There is a story on the net where shows Rick took pac money from Romney before. Today, it has been removed. The requested page “/2012/01/05/7809/romney-pac-gave-trash-talking-r%20ival-santorum-10k-donation-2006” could not be found.
Romney is a clueless scumbag. Why doesn’t he cut an ad which highlights his “severe” conservatism?
