The Brody File sat down with Newt Gingrich for a one-on-one interview at CPAC in Washington last week. We discussed the state of the race, from his perspective. Here's what he had to say. Transcription follows the video below.
David Brody: Hey, you know, I like to call you the Yoda of this presidential race, so Yoda, if you will, give me your impression of where were at.
Newt Gingrich: Is this a comment on the fact that Im a grandfather or what?
David: It could be partially that. Give me your sense of where were at in the race, where are you at?
Newt Gingrich: Look, I think its temporarily a wide open race. I think whats happened is with each passing wave of negative ads, Romney has marginalized himself, and that finally came crashing down on him starting in Nevada where he really dramatically underperformed, and then Missouri, Minnesota, Colorado where he basically collapsed. And I think now hes got a real challenge, theres a new poll out in Georgia, hes running third, I am now first, Santorum is second, things are in turmoil. Santorums gotten a nice bump, and should have, he earned it. He made the right strategic gamble. And now, were going to sort out who is really prepared to have bold changes, who is prepared to do the things we need to get back on the right track as a country, and that will be a good debate. I think people will look at it with new interest now.

Someone must have spoken to Rick S. about the mean, pouty thing because he grinned like a possum all though the mean, vicious interview he had with David Gregory on Sunday.
I really longed for someone to look cranky and smack Gregory upside the head.
That’s an interesting point.
What do Rush, Mark Levin and Mark Davis (local conservative host-Dallas area) see in Santorum.
I don’t think they see much.
I think they are afraid of Newt. Afraid of his ‘baggage’.
Afraid he will not filter his mouth through his brain before he makes some way out of there remarks.
I do not share that fear.
But none of them have endorsed, per se.
I’m not crazy about Santorum. I’ve never been crazy about Santorum, but I’ll vote for him if I have to.
Short skit.
Reporter:Tell me why you’re supporting whom you are?
FR #1:I’m supporting Romney because he’s a good business man, good family man and all in all a good and decent sort of guy.
FR #2: Ron Paul. He’s a good family man and all in all a good and decent sort of guy. I like some of his domestic ideas.
FR#3: Rick Santorum. He’s a good family man and all in all a good and decent sort of guy. LIke those sweater vests. They’re cute.
FR#4: Newt, but I’ll need a good ten minutes to tell you why.
I was wrong about CAin, oh Wise Turtle Breath.
You sure were wrong about Cain BIG TIME. I knew it when you were spouting the lies on this site. I know it now when you spout your nonsense about Santorum. Everyone knows.
REally? EVeryone knows what? Santorum is a light weight. He endorsed Romney last year and in 2008.
YOu’re giving me more credit than it’s due.
You constant bashing of Santorum is doing nothing but raising his numbers. I hope you continue. He is going to be President of the United States.
YOu care to put a wager on that? If the American public is stupid enough to vote for that guy, then heaven help us.
I suspect it will be soon that we’ll hear about some lewd thing the guy was involved with.
AS for you, how about getting a grip on yourself. YOu’re still in the minority regarding Santorum
.
Santorum will not survive the coming vetting of his record, and that is his own fault.
He could have recanted all of his many bad votes in the senate, but he is in denial. The more we learn about him the less we’ll like him, and there is a ton to learn.
.
>> Santorum gets in a snit when he is challenged, and I dont think richie cunningham has the wherewithall to win over uber cool fonziebama. <<
.
Hey, I thought we had decided that he was Eddie Haskel, not Richie C.
Nice. lol.
Good morning. I made you laugh?
