HARRIS COUNTY, Texas Investigators have made an arrest in a home invasion near Lake Houston, thanks in part to fingerprints left at the crime scene.
The home invasion happened Wednesday, on Yonder Way in the Commons subdivision.
According to Harris County deputy constables, a mother and her 10-year-old son were home by themselves when two robbers broke in.
The woman put her son in a closet and grabbed her gun, shooting at but missing one of the suspects.
On Thursday, deputies said they caught one of those suspects, Bradley Wayne Turner.
They believe the other suspect is Turners brother, Dennis.
Dennis Turner may be on the run in Louisiana, investigators said.

We need to get this poor girl some range practice time, otherwise a happy end to this story.
I saw a great commecial on TV (or maybe I dreamed it)
It was about a gun store advertisement- They made it look like one of those 'home invasion' commercials trying to scare you into buying a home security system- except when the woman calls and says "there's an intruder in my house" and the security guys says "We've called the Police- they are on their way" The woman says "Tell them to take their time, I've taken care of the situation" and the camera shows her blowing the smoke off a freshly fired 38.
Then it cuts to the gun store owner doing one of those "Crazy Eddy" type sales pitches for a gun. It was pretty funny
All together now- “MORE RANGE TIME!”
This incident occurred about a mile and a half down the road from me.
Turner hasn’t been out of the pen very long for the same crime. 26 years old, convicted felon and a career criminal. His brother Dennis the same thing.
Burke said he had problems with Turners dog so he fired rat shot at it.
“He whooped me upside the head and knocked my hat off,” Burke said.
**********
I hope Mr. Burke, 82 years old, can stay safe around these criminals.
I see this statement so much on FR and I think it's not what's called for. You don't need "range time" to shoot someone a few feet away. You need training in presence of mind in a tense situation.
Another middle-name-Wayne.
We would be pleased to read about any local knowledge that you think would be interesting. Local knowledge is one of the wonderful things about freerepublic.
The Commons is a semi-upscale area kind of isolated in the woods.
Big lots, nice houses. There is no real crime in the area that I know of.
The surrounding areas are either wild or populated by good ol’ rednecks.
The whole area is not very.. integrated.
Eastforker (on the other side of the Commons from me) would likely
have a lot more insight and historical perspective since he’s
lived out here many years longer than I have. The crime scene
is about equidistant between us.
I highly doubt the Turners lived in the neighborhood where the crime occured. Many out of the way country roads in area whith “low rent” dwellings though, especially up at Casey’s Ridge. Lots of riff raff up there a few miles away. And lets not forget the end of Havard road or Inland road.
True, Casey Ridge has a kind of “Deliverance” feel to it.
But TheMom thinks highly of the Casey Ridge liquor store.
In Huffman, TX you don’t need to “go to the range.”
You can pretty much practice your shootin’ in the back yard anytime you feel like it.
I finaly located the ruben burk, the neighbor mentioned in the other article, they spelled it with an e on the end. Low and behold he lives at the end of my street and we ran those thugs out of our neighbor hood about 6-8 weeks ago. One of them came up to my door wanting to know if I had any scrap metal I wanted to get rid of. I told him the only metal I had to git rid of would be lead buckshot coming from the barrel of my shotgun aimed at his ass if he didn’t git on down the road or if I ever caught him on my property again.I have no idea where these guys were staying recently. They were only in my neighborhood for about 2 months.
Except parts of Huffman is actually in the city limits of Houston close to the lake.
The hell you say!
So I’ve heard. :-)
I have heard tales!
