Viability for Me, but Not for Thee
The American Thinker ^ | February 12, 2012 | Keith Riler

... According to her mother,Amelia was denied a life-saving transplant because she was "considered mentally retarded." The statements attributable to her denying doctor are explicit and, if true, leave no doubt that the girl'slife was discounted because she has a neurological syndrome.

The hospital is wisely reconsidering, but...

Thirty-ninepercent of programs stated that they "rarely" or "never" considerNDD[neurodevelopmental delays] in their decisions, whereas 43percent of programs "always" or "usually" do.

PeterSinger,...has argued..."[W]e should not see all human lives as of equal worth but recognise that some are more valuable than others. Such judgments should be made on the basis of the individual's capacity to think, relate and experience. ... In cases of braindamage making it impossible for the patient to express a preference, this principle obviously opens the door to non-voluntary euthanasia.... Some humans are non-persons, while some non-human animals are persons. ... We put a horse that has broken its leg out of its misery as quickly as possible. This merciful act spares the animal an untold amount of needless suffering. If we look upon human animals in the same fashion, our opposition to killing those who are suffering will begin to dissolve."

[SNIP]

Gabby[Giffords] is at risk not just because, like Amelia, she is vulnerable from a health problem for which Singer has a ready answer. As if that weren't enough, her death-happy friends have raised the bar, insisting that the welfare and convenience of others must also be considered in calculating a life's worth.

In fact, Gabby herself has the same preoccupation with others when considering the worthiness of a life, having said the following in support of abortion on demand..:

"I believe abortion should be safe, legal and rare. Studies have demonstrated that the health of a woman directly impacts the health of her relatives."...

Makes sense from a soulish perspective.

Of course, soulish humans are condemned already, while those with a regenerated human spirit are saved.

Taking the life of another human, prematurely, may either as murder remove the opportunity for that person to have fellowship with God or it might deny that person the opportunity for further sanctification prior to the first death.

In both cases, it places the judgment of man before the Plan of God.

God makes no mistakes, all life is sacred, interfearing in his plan is a test of you and not a test you want to fail...

We know that God bequeaths human dignity, therefore Amelia, Gabby, and Barack are equally valuable (although Amelia is certainly the least dangerous).

Zing.

Do you define failing to provide a kidney transplant as "Taking the life of another human, prematurely"?

This is not quite the same thing as Terry Schiavo where all she needed was food and water.

There is a difference is providing resources when they are available to help our fellow man by grace, and instead administering all grace by regulations of the State.

IMHO, there may be situations where those appearing to be the most worthy might not be proper recipients of such procedures, while others appearing to be the least qualified might perform more by His Plan if given more grace.

in all humility, to even suggest that a person can interfere with the Lords plan is folly...

the home invader that looks at the business end of my shotgun could be getting the *lesson* he needs to live, or maybe is there simply to be brought to Justice in realtime ??? He will determine the outcome, no matter what my input is...
