Negative. It’s only based on when you are in theater. I see that a couple other active duty military freepers have joined in as well. Overall, this is a good system. You deploy, then you come home. You fill out a travel voucher (which is how it’s always been done while I’ve been in the military). The difference is that now, they look on your travel voucher and determine how many days you were in theater. That’s how much you get paid for. This doesn’t take any money from grunts, who spend lots of time in theater. It DOES take money from people (and there are a lot) who screw the system and pull strings to enter a theater for 1 or 2 days to receive a full month’s combat pay.
So as long as the area is deemed a theater it counts. Fair enough too, since you never know in theaters when the other guy will begin “acting.” Of course then somebody has got to determine what’s a theater.
