So I don’t know if these people are ignorant about what conservatism means or if they are SO conservative that they are consumed with hate for Obama and don’t care who they beat him with or what’s actually going to happen over the next 4 years.

I go with number 2 if CPAC anything like the folks here that didn’t get behind a STAUNCH conservative like Jon Huntsman that didn’t hate enough but was unique in that he could actually win, and win big, against Obama.

Ok folks, seriously...

Did you really think that the supposed front-runner could allow it’s campaign to actually lose this straw poll, no matter how much it cost?

Shoveling money at this for the Romney camp is cheap compared to the negative media narrative of losing.

That’s right. None of those who won after Bush went on to be elected. That means it’s not reflective of the electorate, but we all knew that.

You know what I always say: every time conservatism runs, it wins. Except when it loses.

If Mittens wins CPAC, then obviously they bought his message that money trumps ideas.

Newt’s speech blew away both of the other contenders-—the fix-—yet again-—is in.

I am totally disgusted. Santorum wasn’t even a close second with his remarks.

How to counter this sham?!

CPAC’s actions have done more to get the “base” excited about the coming election than actually following through with anything substantive. As the poll of Mitt clearly shows, there isn’t much conservatism among the establishment GOP pretenders running CPAC.

IOW, CPAC is mostly a way for political blowhards to release more hot air in the dead of winter than it is about promoting conservatism and conservative values.

Rush made a great point the other day about Mitt. Everyone claims that they want someone else but Mitt is the most “electable”. And, yet, for someone so “electable”, he is failing to close the deal on the primaries this year. He’s only won ~half of the primaries with the other half going to other candidates.

Which, raises the issue of his “electability”. If, at this point in primary season, Mr. “Electability” isn’t coming in first in ALL of the primaries, how is he supposed to win against zero?

Romney’s vote went down from 2008, at least. Huckabee also did really bad compared to either Romney or McCain, so it does suggest this conference has a lot against social conservatism.

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/02/09/romney-edges-mccain-in-conservative-straw-poll/

In votes cast before Romney left the race, he beat McCain 44 to 27 percent. Among votes gathered after Romney’s withdrawal, McCain led Romney 37 to 32 percent.

Mike Huckabee received 12 percent of the vote in the straw poll overall, and Ron Paul received 10 percent.

WTF is CPAC thinking. Didn't these damn fool listen to what Palin said? We need a Constitutional conservative that understand the system. We need a fighter that has the conviction that America needs to be restored fast, not a learning school for the lame. We need Newt Gingrich. We seem to have the same dumb asses that got us King Obama. What is wrong with America.
