Texas Governor and former presidential candidate Rick Perry tells Newsmax that Newt Gingrich is the most capable Republican still in the race and the right conservative to go to Washington and make it as inconsequential as he can....
Ive endorsed Newt, so I hope that has some impact. Were looking for the most conservative candidate. Texans by and large are a conservative lot, he says.
But any of our candidates are going to be better than Obama. My goal is to send the most conservative person to Washington D.C., that understands how to balance the budget, and Newt Gingrich has done that.
I think Newt by any measure, from the standpoint of fiscal conservatism, being able to actually operate in that shark tank in Washington, is the most capable individual. Hes balanced a number of budgets before.
Mitts been a very successful businessman, but the idea that you can transform your experiences as a private sector businessman into working in Washington doesnt necessarily translate.
I know for a fact that Newt knows how to work there. He is committed to blowing the place up, from a figurative standpoint, and to really put policies into place tax-wise, regulatory-wise.
Perry says Gingrich is also a big believer in the Tenth Amendment, which provides that powers not granted to the federal government nor prohibited to the states by the Constitution should belong to the states or the people.
You dont see any of the other candidates out there talking about the Tenth Amendment and empowering the states and devolving power out of Washington, except Newt Gingrich.
Perry says Gingrich is also the candidate with the best chance of defeating President Obama in November.

If Newt’s numbers with women is dismal, why is at least half the folks at his events women? I and all of my female [as well as male] friends are supporting Newt. Where are you getting your statistics from?
we could not grow the party = we could not keep feeding at the trough, covering up for one another, and spending other people's money with abandon and no accountability."

"And as for Gingrichs Republican colleagues, whom the Editors applaud for ejecting him from the speakership, no one can deny that they had their reasons. But is there not another side of that story worth telling? In the seven years they controlled Congress after Gingrich left, didnt these esteemed colleagues have something of a weakness for half-baked (and not especially conservative) ideas? Under a Republican president, they added over $3 trillion to the federal deficit, shunned conservative policy in favor of Beltway influence-peddling, and so damaged the GOP brand that we ended up, first, with an electoral rout that lost the majority Gingrich had worked years to forge, and then, with Obama. How much should I really care that Newts fabulous colleagues think his reemergence would be a disaster for Republicans? Lest these characters forget, it is the Tea Party and President Obamas radicalism that have put them back in the saddle 2010 was not a merit promotion; they were the only alternative in town."

Go Newt Go !!!
“FAR FAR AWAY AND TAKE PELOSI AND THE COUCH WITH YOU”
Perry is wonderful... and as a Newt supporter, I couldn’t be more grateful for what he did in dropping out, and supporting Newt, and then endorsing him.
Perry is going to be campaigning for Newt all month... I am not sure if where Perry fits into that political calculation where he could do Newt alot of good as a VP, but I would be so happy to see that... Can you imagine Perry after 8 years of learning the ropes as VP? He would be historical...
No one with any credibility can say that Perry isn’t a great person. He is a good man. He was my 2nd choice.
Oh and doesnt Ginsberg come to mind...the shrew. I love Newt. He is the hope for this country...period!
From the beginning I stated that I preferred Governor Perry remained the Governor of Texas.
That said, I was also convinced he was the most likely to seriously attack the stranglehold of DC bureaucraps on the nation. The debates did not really define what he really is, but they had an affect.
Now that he has withdrawn, I agree that Newt is the next most likely to actually slay the monster in DC. It is a bit of grudge thing with Newt.
It is a long way to the selection of our GOP candidate. I hope the DC GOP Insiders choke on what they are trying to force feed us.
When the selection of our candidate is done, we must close ranks and soundly defeat the vermin threatening our nation. Obozo MUST GO!
Yes, I have his book too.
Liv, I always saw Perry as the kid that didn’t want to go out for the football team, but was forced to by his dad. I’m not speaking ill of him- it just seemed like he wasn’t inspired this time around. By political standards, he’s still young- he’ll have other chances.
Actually, and I hope it doesn’t come to pass, he would be a very good VP for Romney-—
I know, for some reason, a lot of people on this board don’t like Lindsay Graham - I know very little about him... but this link and video really cleared up a lot of things for me, about that adjective “erratic” bandied about in reference to Newt... for people who don’t know how government works it was a good anecdotal snapshot that made a lot of sense to them, and me. Everyone - men and women - I sent it to reacted to positively and many got reassurance from it... the gist of it is graham says he now understands how hard it was for Newt to govern and, looking back, he thinks people were too hard on Newt back then...
I want to do a little blurb and start using it, but I can’t get the paragraph texts to copy out, so I could use them for excerpts... if you think the link is worth a visit, could see if you can copy the text for me? I would appreciate it very much...
Here, why don’t you go tell this guy how you feel.

GO NEWT GO—its about the survival of our country!!
No, you are betting on getting another Obama couch.
Congratulations.
I didn’t catch that interchange, Chris - but that’s a pretty good insight on your part. Rick’s in a good position right now to maximize his leverage, one way or another.
As to your point, he says he’s going head to head with Romney in Mich— let’s see how Romney treats him-— that may give an indication of what’s going on.
I’m not sold on the “surge”, at this point— let’s see what happens in the next debate. -:)
Yes I agree Perry is a good man. He made a couple of mistakes that killed his campaign but he was never angry, didn’t do anything wrong and was always optimistic.
“Liv, I always saw Perry as the kid that didnt want to go out for the football team, but was forced to by his dad. Im not speaking ill of him- it just seemed like he wasnt inspired this time around. By political standards, hes still young- hell have other chances.”
Sort of like Fred Thompson but I think Perry will have a future beyond selling government backed reverse mortgages.
