That’s Newt’s major weakness. He allows his political enemies to get in his head. So, big deal he sat in the back with reporters. He could have used that time with the reporters to his advantage, like calculating the amount of taxes saved.
But Newt is the only Speaker who had balanced budgets and managed to reverse the welfare state just a bit. Compare Newt to Madame Peloser. We don’t even have budgets anymore. Worse yet, we have jacka$$ Hoyer claiming we don’t even need budgets anymore. WTF!!!!! Compared to that, Newt is a dream date. ; )

Steep decline in federal employees in the '90s. Looks like it started under the Bush recession, but I'm going to assume Newt's Congress had a lot to do with it continuing to decline after that, since under the Democrat Congress in the '80s it stayed flat, and it was flat again under the Bush years after Newt was gone. http://www.angrybearblog.com/2007/06/comparing-presidents-size-of-government.html
