Marcie Lucci is one of several Penn Hills residents upset her taxes are paying for U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum's children to attend a cyber charter school.
The Republican senator owns a home in Penn Hills, but lives in Leesburg, Va.
Penn Hills School District is paying $38,000 this year for five Santorum children to attend Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School based in Midland, Beaver County. The district has paid an additional $62,000 for his children to attend the school since 2001.
"It might not be illegal to bill Penn Hills for their education, but it is deceitful, unethical and immoral," said Lucci, a mother of two school district children. "It is outrageous he is doing this."

If you support him, you should know. If you heard him speak, you should know. If you saw his ads, you should know. If you haven’t then you don’t care - so what difference would it make to you.
Santorum could have sent his kids to public school in Pennsylvania and they would have spent about the same (probably more). Instead they attended an online charter school.
You think the state and the school district are fully entitled to Santorum's tax dollars but also entitled to refuse to pay for his kids' education in an approved program?
Only a strained and bizarre legalistic take -- or a concerted leftist political campaign -- would deny a state's US Senator the same benefits afforded to his constituents.
How about this?
You show me one of your past posts saying the same thing about gingrich, and I will definitely consider it:
any variation will be fine:
“...and not trash Gingrich since he might be our nominee one day?”
You really need to stop.
I don’t know why all Sanctimonium’s supporters are so ugly and hatefilled, but they just are. Don’t say things about me, or anyone, that aren’t true. How do you know what I have read and haven’t? My gosh. You definitely support Sanctimonium, you both deserve each other. Get yourself under control. And please don’t post to me again. You are hopeless.
The amazing part us how they used time travel to post this hit piece in 2004.
No he couldn't he lived in Leesburg VA. at the time. This is not new and one of the reasons Casey beat him, that and his refusal to support Toomey against Specter. He declared a relative's home as his residence in PA. so he could send his kids to cyber-school on Penn Hills dime.
Believe me, many strong Santorum supporters turned their backs on him after this fiasco. It wasn't so much that he did it but rather that he fought it and declared that because he owned the home in PA. which he rented out, that qualified him as a resident of the school district even though his kids sat in Leesburg while using the cyber-school.
"If a person removes to the District of Columbia or other federal territory or foreign country to engage in the government service, he shall not be considered to have lost his residence in this state during the period of such service, and the place where the person resided at the time of his removal shall be considered and held to be his place of residence."

Oh, please. A serial adulterer is by definition a liar.
Give it up! He didn’t lie to America. Mitt and Rick are the serial liars for their own advantage.
Good for you, tbf!
Someone who lies to those closest to him is not trustworthy.
His wives aren’t running.
And one more time - Newt didn’t lie to America for his own advantage. Mitt and Rick are of the same lying cloth. I’m not attracted to evil, satan is the father of lies, so neither will get my vote.
“My property taxes pay for local schools. Wheres the scandal since he pays Pennsylvania property taxes too.”
Plus, the Santorums are saving tax dollars by home schooling their kids, since the Federal Govt. pays for part of school costs.
A few days ago, on Fox News Sunday, Santorum said that Romney has LESS of a contrast to Obama than Gingrich.
He also said, more than once, that he (Santorum) and Gingrich are friends.
However, Gingrich is a competitor, so Santorum will bring out the differences they have.
Welcome to politics 101.
“Mr. Santorum was asked to defend his use of Penn Hills funds for the charter school.
He replied, “I defend it as I’m a taxpayer in Penn Hills, Pennsylvania. That’s where I pay my income tax, that’s where I pay my real estate tax, that’s where I pay wage taxes, state taxes, I pay taxes like any other state taxpayer. And most people who pay taxes to the school district, who claim that place as their only residence in Pennsylvania, which it is, usually have the right to be able to send their kids to school.”

So, how is it I know what you did or did not read? Well, I know what's posted in the thread because I've read it completely several times and your response to my comments directed at you reflect a basic lack of knowledge on your part of what is actually in the thread.
It does none of us any good to bring up old discredited total HS (that's BS from a horse) about whether or not he retained his Pennsylvania residency while he served in Congress.
I'd defend anyone when it comes to that issue.
Then again, that particular Miller woman is likely violating the law when it comes to getting people to accept rabbits outside normal marketing channels. (NOTE: I'm impeaching her credibility with her very own news stories ~ as suggested by another poster on this same thread ~ here, it works).
There's another term for it.
That has been the law of the Republic since the beginning.
I really have no idea where you people come up with this nonsense.
We've had some of them arguing that DC statutes would be the controlling authority ~ or, that a state state statute is the only authority. Yet, the Houses of Congress are both authorized by the Constitution itself to set rules regarding their membership ~ and if you dig into those rules you'll find boilerplate language that makes sure they DO NOT LOSE their legal residence simply by attending Congress.
Frankly, I am tired of this residency argument ~ it is ignorant and wrong. Doesn't matter if some guy forgot to rent a trailer in Florida, or get a long term lease on a room in a flea-bag hotel back in Harrisburg.
Sure, you might get some political mileage out of it telling the local rubes that "Hey, ol'Congresscritter Diddlysquat don't live here no more" but, hey, ol'Congresscritter Diddlysquat is attending Congress ~ end of story.
