Heres an article about the rising use of Super PACs and our Article II Super PAC is in it. Pretty good for an organization whose ink on the charter is barely dry! Any publicity is useful, as long as they spell the name and URL correctly. I guess that means were on the map now.
The New York Times has a major story today on President Barack Obama reversing his long-held opposition to Super PACs and dispatching surrogates to help fundraise for the pro-Obama pac,PrioritiesUSA.
Super PACs, which can raise unlimited funds from corporations, unions, and individuals for a campaign with which theyre not technically affiliated have become a major factor in U.S. national and state elections. There are over 313 declared Super PACs as of February 7. You can find a full list of them at OpenSecrets.org. Some of these, like Mitt Romneys Restore Our Future and Newt Gingrichs Winning Our Future not to mention, Stephen Colberts Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow are well known. But move down the list and things get a little stranger.
Theres the seemingly contradictory Citizens Against Super PACs. Theres the just-for-laughsJoe Six PAC. Theres the Article II Super PAC the fund-raising entity of the birther movement. Theres IndyAmericans.com, founded by a group of Texas independent voters and whose website features a picture of a bald eagle pooping on Rick Perrys head.
