Some here on FR were saying Santorum was the best conservative in the race...but there was some sort of embrace of Newt because he was vicious in attacking the media.

And that will only carry a candidate so far. When you get right down to it, conservatives really prefer a pleasant and positive candidate.

In 2010 they said that my congressional candidate (Walberg)couldn't possibly win because he is a nice guy going up against the true believers of the marxists and their union minions. The democrats threw everything at him and Walberg stayed on message talking about small government, cutting spending and less taxes. Basically he didn't fight back. At the end of the campaign he defeated the democrat incumbent and he did it with half the money.
