It’s sort of surprising anyone would vote in these elections if there are no delegates involved. What’s the point? How does it differ from, say, the IA Straw Poll?

We in Minnesota chose our delegates in our own local caucus. They are people we know, who have a history and we trust are conservatives through our dealings with them. My caucus was alloted 17 delegates. As they move up through the county level to the state level that number obviously gets smaller. It's a good grassroots way to chose a delegate that represents your values and your community. The "straw poll" is non-commital. The delegates are what is important.
