Chinese J-10 Fighter Unit Makes Maiden Flight with Live Ammunition in Tibet
15:38 GMT, February 2, 2012 On January 31, 2012, at a military airport of the Air Force of the Chinese Peoples Liberation Army (PLA) in Tibet, an aviation regiment stationed in Tibet equipped with J-10 fighters launched the year 2012s first training of two-fighter confrontation with live ammunition.
At 10:10, with the ear-piercing roaring sound, two J-10 fighters soared to the sky like arrows from the bow.
At 12:30, two fighters that had just finished the training landed on the tarmac. Peng Lizhong, head of the second fighter group of the regiment, sprang from the cabin.
At 13:30, the two J-10 fighters took off again to implement a task.
Cai Zihua, commander of a troop unit under the PLA Air Force stationed in Tibet, told the reporter excitedly, This is the first flight of the Air Force stationed in Tibet after the Spring Festival of the year 2012. The regiment conducted cross-year training on the snowy plateau and its combat effectiveness and support capacity have been strengthened constantly.??

Where is the hand crank?//
Sukhoi knock-off?
No, though it uses the same engine as the SU-27/30. It’s based on the Israeli Lavi fighter, with some help from Pakistan’s F-16s.

It looks extremely unstealthy with its external weapons and canards.
My thoughts, too. No stealth.
But it also makes me think of the USSR’s approach to combat equipment: Quantity has a quality all it’s own.
It won’t make much difference when we pick them up on radar if we don’t have enough munitions to shoot them down.
correct... all the chinese have to do is simple math... how many j-10’s will it take to shoot down one f-22? multiply by that number, and you have your minimum fleet size...
“Quantity has a quality all its own.”
Ironically, this is how many historians say that the US and USSR won WWII.
IMHO...it was also the only way that Grant was able to beat General Robert E. Lee in the American Civil War.
China, Russia, and all our enemy’s build up while the traitor in chief cuts our military to the bone. We will suffer for this, maintaining our military strength and superiority should be paramount.
Looks like the Chinese are spreading their wings a little more each and every day.
We can’t carry enough missiles no matter how stealthy we are. What will be required to defeat numbers is more numbers or a laser type weapon stationed in space.
Developed, built and paid for by “free trade”...
Correct, we can all look at the underside of our computers and get a nice warm feeling seeing that Made in China sticker.
it’s one thing to replace destroyed jet fighters, it’s another thing to replace destroyed veteran pilots and if push ever came to shove, we would be producing all the jet fighters we needed and missiles would never be in short supply.
Really? Did you know they just cut the defense budget? Who’s president?
“Ironically, this is how many historians say that the US and USSR won WWII.”
Commonly thought,, but untrue. In every category, we outclassed the Germans in quality AND quantity.
Our battleships, rifles, carbines, light machine guns, pistols, Bombers, fighters, transport planes, radar, proximity fuses, nuclear bombs, field rations, were utterly superior.
Our tanks were superior in another sense,,they always worked, and can drive like cars down the Jersey turnpike. And for all the talk of German tanks,, they couldnt stop ours. Things like speed and reliability DO matter after all. And the best tank of the war was the Soviet T-34. Even Guderian said so.
Jet fighters?? The P-80 was 50 mph faster than the me262, more maneuverable, had better engines, and nearly double the thrust to weight ratio. And about 50% more range.
We sent two to Italy just for experimentation,, we simply didnt need them to deal with the German Jets because the Mustangs and T-bolts were running rampant over the reich,,, but we could have, had we needed them.
Likewise for the B-29,,, we simply didn’t NEED to use it in Europe.
But the final thing is the V2. We are always told how superior it was. But this marvel and technological leap was a dud. Is was accurate if your aiming point was “London”,,”Antwerp”,,etc,,
The V2 in raw terms cost the Germans more than we spent on the Manhatten project,,and produced the sum total explosives on target of about one 8th AF and Bomber Command 1000 Plane raid. All that effort, for something we could do every week. And sadly,, because of the German penchant for slave labor, the V2 is the only known weapon that killed more in its construction, than in its actual USE.
No,, the Germans were not beaten by numbers. They were beaten by a superior philosophy, with superior weapons.
They only had better subs- thats no joke. Thank God they wasted their efforts building V1s, V2s, Bismark and Tirpitz,,etc. Had they built the easily doable 500 subs that Doenitz wanted early in the war,, that could have been very very bad for us. But they always went for the “cheat” the grand shortcut to make up for the lack of basic “block and tackling”.
