The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
I can’t believe this isn’t going to cause an uproar in Congress. And the GOP nominess ought to be jumping on it too.
Looks like Congress was behind this.
this is not a pay cut for serving “in harm’s way”, it is a refinement of what constitutes being “in harm’s way”
I guess someone who takes 30 days of leave in Hawaii or Florida, or who rotates to a statsuion in conus or noncombat zone, will not be considered as being “in harm’s way”, and won’t get combat pay for those days
I see nothing wrong with this. But if the troops are underpaid just give them a pay raise

It is my personal opinion this is another of Obama’s moves to shrink the military to dangerously low levels for the purpose of returning to the Draft. The Draft has been on the list of to-do’s for the Democrats since it was rescinded.
He wants to say the volunteer army isn’t working, therefore he hasn’t any choice but to return to the draft.
It is an interesting subject and one I’ve taken advantage of a number of times.
For a grunt deploying overseas to a combat zone for 4, 6 or 12 months the extra pay was nice.
When we were scheduling our air flow the Air Force was more than happy to get us there by the last day of the month. Which with crew rest and two days work got them 2 months HDP and tax free.
But this is targeting the “visitors” who like to come check up on you for a few days. Days that just happen to span two months - the 31st to the 1st.
Bachmann plan would cut veterans benefits

Obama has REPEATEDLY said one thing ... and done another.
We need to cut Congressional pay to the same levels and maybe even drop them in Afghanistan. Then we could bring our soldiers home and make them our Congress.
As an Infantryman in the United States Army, I see this as a good and bad thing.
It is good that those who are actually put in harms way during deployments are rewarded over those who are quite safe on their FOBs. Fobbits, as we call them, do not deserve the same pay of those actually risk their lives on a daily basis.
It is bad if they limit it to only combat arms MOS’ despite a soldier’s actual duty when overseas. Many soldier’s who are not combat arms go outside the wire. Also, some FOBs do take incoming fire. This policy may leave too much up to the discretion of someone who is too far out of harms way to make the judgement of who is deserving.
While many in the military will disagree with this new policy. You will not find too many Infantryman in that boat.
I see nothing wrong with either.
Too many military personnel abused the old policy.
If you only spend one day in a combat zone, you do not deserve a full month’s worth.
I don’t think Obama would be doing this if he wasn’t feeling confident about winning in November.
I mistakingly reversed two weeks when applying for unemployment (for simplicity's sake .. wk 1 = $100 and wk 2 = $200)
What should have been wk 1 = 100 and wk 2 = 200 ... I inputted wk 1 = 200 and wk 2 = 100.
Not only did that cause an internal electronic hemmorhage, it denied my check for two weeks and gifted me with an interesting afternoon of telephonic exchanges that might have gotten my ass kicked if I had not been apologetic in the end.
The jokes abound about standing in the DMV line, but UE has a pretty good start on incapable imbeds.
I detest that man...
Mike
Or he may be getting around to changing what the meaning of “volunteer” means.
This snake oil salesman may want to change it to “those who work for free.”
I hope all obama worshippers who have relatives serving in the military appreciate this. Maybe they can get obama to pay them from his stash.
This will free up some more money to help buy votes.
