Newt Gingrich will stay in the Republican presidential nomination contest despite an expected loss to Mitt Romney in Saturdays Nevada caucuses, the former speaker told The Washington Times late Saturday afternoon.
We had excellent fundraising meetings and calls yesterday, Mr. Gingrich said. Super Tuesday and beyond look good.
The Georgia native thus dispelled rumors circulating in the press that his campaign had scheduled a press conference for late Saturday, after the results were in from the Nevada caucuses.
We will probably be a solid second here with [Rick] Santorum in last place, Mr. Gingrich said, while acknowledging indirectly that attracting donors and voters in sufficient force to overtake Mr. Romney will be a challenge in the coming weeks.

If that is what it takes then go Ron Paul!
I worry about toying with Paul with Iran looking as if it is about to blow. But Obama wouldn’t help much—Paul wouldn’t be any worse there.
And Romney can’t beat Obama in my opinion. Even if he could, Romney scares me, too.
We must learn to organize like the ACORN folk (without the fraud) How do we get this together? We need to.
I want Gingrich! If we can’t have him I don’t want a Jeb shoved down our throats either.
This stuff is driving me crazy...
Excerpt: "ODonnells understanding was that, following the Florida primary this past Tuesday, he would be tendered a formal offer to advise Romney on debates going forward.
And several sources in and close to the Romney camp said there had been deep consternation internally over the press ODonnell received and the pre-emptive, how-we-did-it Times story, which quoted Romney adviser Russ Schriefer among others.
The piece, said one campaign insider, made the candidate himself seem like an afterthought in reviving his own campaign.
The campaign held a conference call this week, multiple sources said, in which a clear message was delivered Romney pulled himself back from the brink after South Carolina, and no one else did it for him.
Romney made his feelings jarringly clear when he was asked about the Times story in an interview Monday on the Today show.
I think you can expect advisers to think that the work of advisers is very, very important, but frankly, I think if youre to go back and look at where the sentiment changed, it was with the debates, Romney told Matt Lauer."

I saw it differently, he seemed to be running a pretty smart campaign and was building momentum, but the media kept ambushing him at his key moments of success, with those rumors. Romney was linked to those rumors.
There are old threads here about those times.
Good Lord, that’s a 60/40 split. Romney — in his OWN mormanalized state!!
How can they even describe him as a “frontrunner?”
Only if WE hold their feet to the fire...Ping me later for addresses if you need them...Or search for their phone number If they send you an envelop for fund raising, put two pennies in it and write them a missle, mail it back...DONT be silent...Speak out. Let them know how you feel....
If we loose the battle, at least go down fighting!
Romney is as arrogant as obama and just as ignorant. No one must take credit for anything Mittens does. He is on a god trip!
If he is so perfecy why did he hire the man in the first place. He needed Florida. Now that he has accomplished that it’s time to move on to the next victim. The man is scum!
Sanhuckbee makes me sick.
I agree he could have made a better showing if he had really worked the caucauses. I think he is betting the farm on Super Tuesday and picking up most of the south and some of the midwest. Hope he does it.
Please send me a FR mail or post on the FReepathon thread when it’s time for Newt to speak.
no need to be sorry, I love it when someone else screws up like I do...:O)
Newt daughters are coming up soon on CNN
Okay, thanks very much.
No telling yet, when Newt is scheduled to speak?
The very next letter for donations I get from the RNC I’m going to put a coupon for Tucks Medicated Pads in it and mail it back. They are screwed.
Mitt is actually doing worse in Nevada than he did in Florida; if the trend continues, he’ll get somewhere in the low 40’s, when in FL he got 46%. And like you said, about 20% of the Republican electorate is Mormons, who are voting for Mittons at a rate of 95%. And Romney outspent his opponents a zillion to one. So this is a good night; hopefully, it signals that this jerk has peaked.
I am afraid it’s because Romno-money is gaining against three, and that the three together can’t marginalized him. It’s his machine we’re up against, more than the man.
Thompson didn't care what the opposition said or did. He had the right answers on just about everything and was very comfortable saying what he thought. If Thompson's heart and mind and been in it, he would have won the nomination and probably POTUS.

YES! he boasts to reporters on his plane
With criticism mounting, Romney flew to Minnesota and addressed a rally before heading to Nevada. He also boasted in flight about his "huge" Florida victory....

You mean a Saul Alinsky style campaign.

Drop out?! At least wait until you get to Michigan. I don’t want a choice between Romney...and Romney. It’s as bad as only having McCain.
