The economy improves, it’s because of Obama’s policies.
The economy stagnates, it’s because of Bush, Republicans in Congress, etc.

Nah, I think any republican will beat Obama because not many Americans can say they are better off today than they were four years ago come November. The media can crow all they want about BS BLS statistics meant to mislead but people have to get gas every week, pay for heating oil and lookt at their net worth tumbling because their homes are worth less now than they were.
Mine is a minority opinion but I think Obama will be a one termer with the closest race being against Newt because his negatives were driven so damn high over the years by the media based on a BS ethics investigation that Newts fellow republicans aquiesced to.
