I agree. It was pretty funny. I see nothing wrong with her doing that joke.
On the other hand, her record on the Supreme Court was a real joke. She was a mediocre, affirmative-action indecisive mealy-mouthed DISGRACE. I’ll try to think of some other things.
IMHO, O’Connor should have been impeached for her opinion in Casey v. Planned Parenthood, in which she, by her own admission, placed a determination made by a branch of government (the Judiciary, acting through the Supreme Court in Roe v. Wade in 1973) above her own understanding of the U.S. Constitution. Her idolatry of stare decisis ran afoul of one of the most basic principles of American hermeneutics, one famously expounded upon by Justice Marshall in the seminal case of Marbury v. Madison: that the U.S. Constitution is higher law, and trumps any decision by a branch of government.
