With the partial exception of Reagan, and only partial because he left the welfare state more or less intact in order to fight the Soviet menace, all Republican Presidents since Eisenhower have ratified the expansionist measures of their Democratic predecessors. In fact, Nixon and the Bushes added their own "compassionate conservative" expansion of Federal power: the EPA, wage and price controls, and earned income credit under Nixon; higher taxes and low flow toilets under Bush I; No Child Left Behind, Medicare Part D, and "green" appliance mandates under Bush II.

Can Romney be trusted to follow the path of most of his GOP Presidential predecessors, and for that matter, Gingrich or Santorum? The answer is yes, unfortunately. At least any of them will probably gut the mandatory aspects of Obamacare, lest they face a revolt.

Additionally, Obama is not Clinton. He is a "red diaper" baby with a leftist mother and leftist maternal grandparents whose leftism is apparent from boyhood on. Clinton may have taken the Communist kool-aid at Georgetown, Oxford, and Yale, but he was also a pragmatist, as evidenced by his re-tooling his liberal image to a moderate one after his re-election defeat as governor of Arkansas. Even with the GOP controlling both Houses of Congress, Obama will push his agenda via recess appointments and executive orders.

The bottom line is: support the GOP nominee, be nice to Ron Paul and his supporters so they don't go third party, keep Bloomberg and Trump pacified so they don't do a 2012 reprise of Ross Perot, and hope for the best.

No Romney cannot be trusted to do anything but continue to enable liberal progressives, and the Republican Party leadership who wish to destroy the TEA Party ideas, and pay lip service to the grassroots conservative voting base...

And with the support of childish bloggers like “Sudetenland” who are plants to agitate and further enable liberals like Romney to bamboozle voters on a national stage, it will make it easier for Obama to win that second term...But this “FReeper” (I continue to use the term loosely) cannot let it go, they’ve been called out, and continue to engage in that effort...

To cancel them out, we need to ensure the Senate goes as conservative as we can get it, and keep the House...This next election may not be what we exactly want it to be, but 2014 can be another flushing of RiNO’s IF we stay the course...

The revolt has already started (some don’t realize that yet)...As soon as they were successful in taking Texas out of the immediate decision loop, our primary vote (our voice)will be kicked back one week at a time till Romney is assured of “his turn” to take a shot at the liberal-progressives...He doesn’t stand a chance...Nobody did who decided to put their name in the hopper for the job...

“Anyone but Obama” is their lame attempt to rally the troops...And it will be their failure, if it does go their way, and it will confirm everything we know to be true about the moderates and liberals within the Republican party...
