There's a difference between compromising one's conservative principles, which I have never done and understanding reality. I hope Newt or Santorum can defeat Romney and/or they can at least win enough delegates to get us to a brokered convention, but I do not believe that is going to happen.

Should that be the case, I am wise enough to do what Reagan did back in 1976 and suck up my pride and support the Republican ticket, because (in my opinion and that of a great many others) an Obama second term will be a nightmare unrivaled in the last 60 years--perhaps worse even that FDR's socialist revolution.

We can't be certain what sort of judges a President Romney will appoint, but I know for certain the sort of anti-constitutional, activist judges and justices he already has appointed--that alone is enough to give me pause. There is no guarantee that the next justice on the SCOTUS who retires or gets ill will be another liberal, we may very easily face the prospect of one of the conservative stalwarts being replace by another Sotomayor or Kagan. I don't know about you, but that gives me the willies.

I lived through the Warren court and I don't wish to go back there. I believe it would mean the end of our liberties--certainly the 2nd Amendment would fall almost immediately. Roe would be even further codified and there's no telling how much more influence over out justice system "international law" would gain. Subject to the world court? Very possibly. The loss of independent justice to world opinion? Also very possible.

Those of you who believe that a Romney presidency could be nearly as bad as an Obama 2nd term should think real hard about the unintended consequences of this "devil you know" before you ignore them.

Yes, Romney bad, but Obama tragic.

There’s a difference between compromising one’s conservative principles, which I have never done and understanding reality.

(Saying it here and proving that are two entirely different things...And seeing what your history is on the issue at hand, I don’t believe you for one second!!!)

I hope Newt or Santorum can defeat Romney and/or they can at least win enough delegates to get us to a brokered convention, but I do not believe that is going to happen.

(Again, bullbutter!!!)

Should that be the case, I am wise enough to do what Reagan did back in 1976 and suck up my pride and support the Republican ticket, because (in my opinion and that of a great many others) an Obama second term will be a nightmare unrivaled in the last 60 years—perhaps worse even that FDR’s socialist revolution.

(We finally agree, you are a suck up...But you go right ahead and do all the hoping and changing you wanna do this election cycle...ME??? I’d rather fight the good fight from my more conservative position(s) than suck it up and just go with the flow and Romney...I believe a Republican Party majority in the house and Senate can hold off a lot of the nonsense we know is going to be tried by Obama for 4 years...And like I’ve said many times before, those Republicans are on borrowed time...If they suck up like you would have them do, then they can certainly be fired in two years...It’ll be like one big happy party in 2014...I look forward to seeing how this goes...)
