The Republican National Committee will not support Newt Gingrich in his quest to add some Florida delegates to his count.
The former Speaker's campaign argued it deserves some delegates out of Florida despite the state party's position that its contest is winner-take-all.
But an RNC memo obtained by The Hill says that is not a possible scenario.
"With regard to proportionality, the RNC does not have the authority to intervene in a states primary plans beyond the imposition of the Rule 16 penalties," the memo says, referring to the state's loss of half its delegates for moving its primary up to January. "A contest procedure exists for challenges to a states delegation or delegates. The RNC cannot consider any issue regarding Floridas delegation unless and until a proper contest is brought."
An RNC source said that Florida's plan as submitted in the fall said the state would be winner-take-all, and their plan could not be changed.
Even if there were a way to challenge proportionality in Florida, no one in the state party has shown any interest. Lenny Curry, the state GOP chairman, on Thursday painted Gingrich's campaign as a sore loser for making the argument.
Florida was the first state to award its convention delegates on a winner-take-all basis. Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina all awarded theirs proportionally.
Gingrich's campaign circulated a memo on Wednesday questioning whether Romney won all 50 delegates or whether they should be proportional an "unsettled question which will not be resolved until the Republican convention in Tampa this August."
Former Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum, Gingrich's state chairman, reiterated that point on Thursday morning.
"You've got to realize that whoever was going to lose was going to make this challenge," he said on Fox News. McCollum said the challenge would be brought "to contest committee, then on convention floor."
Gingrich has argued his campaign will go to the convention, and this is likely his way as painting the nominating contest as a fight for delegates instead of racking up primary and caucus wins.
It takes 1,144 delegates to win the Republican nomination. Mitt Romney has 71; Gingrich has 23; Rick Santorum has 13; Ron Paul has three; and Jon Huntsman has two, according to a count by The New York Times.

I really would have bet money on THAT pic NEVER appearing ANYWHERE, let alone 4 days before the FLorida primary.
The only time I would have expected the three of them in the same room would have been on a WWF sanctioned PPV Steel Cage Death Match event.
Really creepy in a "VERY bad" way.
I supported BushI and BushII with all that I had... but I would not pee on a Bush if he were on fire today.

The Fla GOP was there and agreed to that rule long ago, just as all the other states did.
Having said that, I do understand that candidates do whatever they can to try to enhance their position.
And when the R.N.C. Again sends a plea for donations I’ll again write on a plain piece of paper “when you stop sending money to RINO’s and start sending it to conservatives then maybe.
Until then, go fish.
and send it back in their stamped addressed envelope.
Republican Party + Democratic Party = Morton’s Fork
Republican voters need to wake up and see that they're being played like a fiddle for thinking Mitt "Romneycare" Romney is the strongest candidate. It's all a big lie.
"wow, whats with this picture? Seriously, does anyone know the basis of the meeting? I find the timing and people in the room disturbing on several levels."
Part of it was pretty obvious (to me, at least). What do Jeb and Obama have in common on a certain policy issue?...
Also, this meeting took place around the time when Gingrich, IIRC, was leading in the polls in Florida among Hispanics. Next came the rollouts of non-endorsements by certain key politicians, and then Romney's hit piece, "Gingrich said Spanish is a 'ghetto' language" or whatever the ad claimed. It was all about sending a subtle message...
unbelievable and disgusting I need to pray harder than ever I feel stabbed in the back at every turn
Go Newt!!!!
I think the Bush's were discussing some sort of a deal to get Obama a second term in exchange for working together to kill the Tea Party. They believe that will clear the decks for Jeb in 2016. They are both evil.
RNC says RNC does not need to play by the RNC’s rules...
AGNTSA.
And the bastards keep sending me request for a donation, LOL!
I keep sending their crap back with "NO MORE RINOS" written across it in red Marks-A-Lot.
PS: My local republican headquarters tells me the party is really financially strapped. Maybe the RNC had better realize that the republican base is very displeased, and that is why they don't have any money. It is in their own best interest to behave in a just and lawful manner, ensuring a level playing field for all the candidates, and not bending over for mittens willard romney. Most of us do not like this guy one little bit and there are not enough squishes in the middle and disaffected democrats to make up for our loss (besides which they don't financially support the republican party anyway.)
What's happening to the rule of law in this country, when nobody feels that they have to follow their own regulations anymore?
Can the RNC lose its charter as an organization if they demonstrate that they're not serious about holding to their own bylaws that justify their existence?

Watch the Florida GOP give back the other 50 delegates before the Convention......
If the election really is already arranged, then does voting only give cover of validity? In other words, to paraphrase an old slogan: What if they had an election and nobody voted?” Well, not literally nobody, but a low enough turn out to make a statement that we know the fix is in, if indeed it really is. Just somethig to ponder.
Note to anyone looking for satisfaction from a brokered convention.
RNC = RinoNC
Well to me, it REALLY is looking like a “joint effort” is underway to PERMANENTLY kill the Tea Party and “conservatives”.
I even RECENTLY read where Jeb’s mama said “NOW is HIS time.”
Paraphrasing here (but close)”He’ll be passed his fresh date with 2 Romney terms.”
TRANSLATION: You are not the establishment candidate, so we will cheat just like Democrats to keep you out, Newt.
This just seems to be a dumb thing to do. Newt knew FULL WELL this was gong to be a winner takes all delegates and didn’t have a single problem with it until he lost. The day before when he said that he was going to win he even said, I will take all 49 delegates when I win tomorrow. Why didn’t he bring this up way before the primary? Go on Newt. Instead of worrying about this nonsense, he should be worrying about winning Nevada.
