"I am offended by a muslim like Obama speculating what Jesus would or wouldnt do."
Took the words right out of my mouth.
As usual, Shakespeare said it best: "[Obama] can cite scripture for his purpose." Note: Obama is nowhere near as intelligent as the real Anti-Christ, although he seems to serve the same master. What scripture teaches is: (1) There is great virtue in giving your own money to serve the poor and in giving generously for that purpose, while there is relatively little virtue in grudging and unwilling contributions. (2) We are commanded by Jesus to, "render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." This means we pay only what the government requires in taxes, but since everything we own is God's, we should directly use whatever we have left to serve God, including to help the poor. Jesus would (as I read scripture) frown on using taxes to collect "for the poor" in general, and more so at the corrupt and wasteful manner that it is done today.
Mark 12:41 And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much. And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury: For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.
