Mitt Romney, in pledging to turn around the Olympics in 2002, had promised to restore the honor and integrity of the scandal-clouded Salt Lake City. The Games captured the worlds attention and became all the more urgent after terrorists attacked us on 9-11. But while Romney invoked the wellspring of American patriotism after the attacks, he neglected their heroes, the fallen firefighters of that early September morning.
Romneys executive assistant, Donna Tillery, twice denied requests to provide free or discounted tickets to widows and orphans of the felled firefighters but gave them for free to Utah legislators just six weeks later, according to a new book, The Real Romney (HarperCollins, 2012).
Tillery sent e-mails to A.J. Barto, a former Salt Lake City firefighter helping the 9-11 widows and orphans, citing a policy barring giveaways, but Romney gave 100 free surplus tickets ($885 each) to Utah legislators. I was outraged at the hypocrisy, Barto told Kranis and Helman. In less than two months, he went from saying, Were going to run a tight ship to throwing out free tickets to a group of people who could help him politically. (221)

I get it. Your brain is like a gun. Guess you forgot to stock up on ammo.
I’m viewing this from a business angle. Sponsors give free tickets to certain people with hopes that their attendance will create publicity for the event which will then cause even more people to purchase tickets which will then increase profits. It happens every day. When you see Hollywood celebrities wearing FREE designer clothes it’s not because the designer is generous and wants to dress for free someone that can already afford to buy his clothes. It’s because of the publicity and advertising of the product with hopes of him making more money.
Well, if it’s about publicity, then who is going garner more attention? A bunch of no-name Utah state legislators, or the 9/11 families, just a few short months after the most devastating attack on U.S. soil since Pearl Harbor.
So, from a business perspective, the 9/11 families would have garnered *far* more publicity than those unknown backwater pols.
Oh, now we all get it, the eigth grade class got internet access. Enjoy.
Man. That was quite a zinger! And you thought it up right out of the blue? Essentially, you have two types of posts here on FR. The first type is “hey, look! So and so is a Mittbot! Daaaaaady!” Then the second type is when you insult people who call you on that. But, if it works for you....
Volley ball is clearly not your sport; try three-color checkers, its so intellectual, and you’ll get extra credit for being bold.
Oh, I don’t know. I’d say I was up about 4 - 0 at this point.
IIRC President Bush was also at the Olympics. By your thinking I suppose it was also wrong to have that politician there too.
Also, if by chance you someday open a business, be sure to invite a bunch of widows and orphans to it, all expenses paid by you, of course, and let me know what your profit was.
You're suggesting that GWB had the same name recognition as those unknown Utah state pols? Are you serious?

You don't understand context at all, do you? They were not just some random, faceless widows; these were widows of NYC firefighters who fell at the WTC only six months before.
Yes, I actually understand, maybe more than you do! Obama is the President...I might vote for Romney...he may be the last candidate available (with a meaningful vote).
Now if it does come down to Obama and Romney - who are you going to vote for?
Rest my case...
Well, who gives a crap when the Country is in trouble! You sound to me like one of those crazies that think that they are right and everyone else is wrong! Ever wonder if that is really your job in this life?
