LAS VEGAS (AP) — Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul outlined his views on immigration Wednesday, saying he favors a compassionate policy that doesn't rely on "barbed-wire fences and guns on our border."

Entirely consistent. Doesn’t matter the group, Paul panders. Truthers, racists, illegal immigrants, doesn’t matter.
One of the days, maybe his supporters will realize Paul is a con man. I wonder if one of the reasons he’s running is to pad his retirement account.
I don’t have a problem with immigrants.
I have a problem with people who don’t speak English.
As far as I am concerned, if they can speak English clearly, leave them alone.
If they can’t speak English that should be probably cause to hold then pending proof of citizenship while starting deportation proceedings.
Assimilate, buy into the melting pot I don’t care where you are from, how long you’ve been here or how you got here; don’t assimilate I don’t care if you’re from Mexico or the Middle East, go the hell away.
The purpose of our immigration policy should be to brain drain the rest of the world; to get the best and the brightest here and make them taxpaying, Star Spangled Banner singing AMERICANS, paperwork be damned. I have more respect for someone who just hopped the Rio Grande who will learn my language and merge into my culture than some lazy Nintendo playing too proud to work punk who happened to be born on this side of the border.

I’ve been telling everyone Paul is an open borders nut, but they argued with me. I used to get his newsletters back in the late 80’s and they were most definitely for open borders then. Its what convinced me that Libertarians were not the way to go.
He only has a problem with guns when they are in the hands of the State but is a strong supporter of the right of the people to bear arms. In Paul’s world only the people would have the right to self defense while the State would have to fend for itself without a budget & would be stymied by his antiquated view of the Constitution.

I like compassion, you like compassion. I like immediate “Compassionate Deportation” of illegal aliens. How about you?
BTW, in our State of Texas, the Hospital District tax I pay would show me NO compassion if I would choose to refuse to pay my annual taxes so they can pay the emergency room bills that the illegal aliens will not pay.

Lets give barb wire and machine guns a chance—they could close the border fast and furiously. Add a few mines, and a ten foot cement walls and about half a million men to guard the thing and we can seal the border air tight. I say no one North or south for a full year—just to sort things out.
