When CAIR speaks the White House jumps. You can bet a quiet call was placed to the SecArmy telling him (not asking him) to fix the problem.
The SecArmy then gets the CSA & VCSA in the room to provide the WH guidance: “Don’t let the Academy get embroiled in this ‘needless’ controversy.”
I can visualize the subsequent conversation with the Superintendent and the inevitable circling of the GO wagons as the word went out to Boykin: you need to withdraw. Then, what do you know, he decides not attend or speak at the prayer breakfast.
I am reminded of the Hassan killings at Ft Hood....you know, the one the Obama administration has refused to identify as being in any way related to Islamic terrorism. Do you recall what George Casey, then the Army CoS, had to say? He didn’t want the incident to have an adverse impact on the Army’s diversity program. Huh?
There are many other examples that could be cited where the Obama administration goes out of its way to avoid any controversy when it comes to Islam regardless of what a cold, impartial assessment of the facts might reveal.
Diversity Obama-style, especially when it comes to religion, is a one-way street that only runs to Mecca. Those with other views need not apply....especially decorated heroes like LTG Boykin who has looked terrorism in the eye but happens to be a Christian
I COMPLETELY understand why you think this way....believe me. However, I have only the facts that have been shared by trustworthy men.
I am not what most would consider “highly religious.” (I am not an atheist or agnostic; I'm just not “conventional” in my beliefs.)
Having said that, you sound like you have “seen the elephant” and your premise sounds extremely plausible. I believe you.
It used to be that the GO’s were highly politicized at the 3-Star level and above; now it seems to have become much more widespread. This is a byproduct of the global scope of the military-industrial complex and the quest for control of the wealth and power invested therein.
As far back as the 1920’s we were warned of this peril by no less than Lt.Gen Smedley Butler. Sadly, after retirement from the Marine Corps, "Old Gimlet Eye" (who was a legitimate war hero and a decent man) became so disenchanted with this situation that he eventually joined the far Left of his day. (My guess is that the U.S. government's extremely brutal treatment of the “Bonus Marchers” pushed him over the edge.)
As the Chinese curse implies: we are living in interesting times.
