Mitt's Scorched Earth Win
American Thinker ^ | 2/1/2012 | C. Edmund Wright

While Mitt Romney may have taken a step closer to the nomination Tuesday in Florida, the scorched earth he leaves behind tells me he took a few steps further away from the White House -- and what's more, he knows it.

Mitt O’Bain is not the first Yankee to come South and institute a scorched earth policy.

If Mitt wins the nomination, I think he might just destroy the Republican Party.

I am split on whether that is a bad thing or not.

The thing that’s really astounding is how FOXNEWS has joined the MSM in their bias against Gingrich. What they used to complain that the MSM does for Obama, they now do for Romney.

Thanks for posting.

FTR: My headline suggestion was “Mitt Knows He Can Never Win White House” - but editor went with Scorched Earth. (his right to do so of course).

But the key to me is Mitt fought Florida in such a manner that proves to me he knows he cannot win.

(Little off topic)
Beck is on first thing this morning climbing on Gingrich and saying he feels sorry for Gingrich supporters.

I am almost to the point of being forever done with Beck.

Does anyone know what happens when GBTV is canceled? I gifted it to a few people. I want to cancel every stinkin’ thing connected to him but also don’t want to yank a gift away, I just want him to know that there will be no more subscriptions coming.

Mitt probably won’t go negative in the general election though

Here's the closest article I've found, What Really Happened in the Gingrich Ethics Case?, with links. Again, this is an article, but the Washington Examiner link has an interesting video of a 1999 CNN broadcast.

As I understand it, the actual data is online but I'm not sure where. Google may be your best help.

The Romney Campaign in FL defines the term “Pyrrhic victory.”

If Ronmey is the nominee, I will vote for the third party. If not available, I’ll vote for Obama. When I said that I’d never vote for Romney, I really did meant just that.

So which of the 11 Commandments does Romney abide by?

Mitt’s going to find it a little more difficult to score in the deep South. Fla is not the South. Newt should just concentrate on Super Tues. Hopefully Santorum will be forced to drop out due to no money.

Truly a great article, specifically the assessment of Newt’s campaign mistake(s) thus far.

It bothers me, however, that Floridians absorbed, bought into, and then acted on the negativity.

I can understand Democrats being that naive and malleable, but this was a closed primary was it not?

I had to turn Beck off this morning. His gleeful gloating is over the top. Being George Washington? Not much Glen. Seriously, do you think George Washington would behave like Glen? or Mitt for that matter. If Beck is to be believed he would not be so happy today ... because Mitt Romney is not the George Washington character that Beck claims he’s searching for. Which makes Beck a liar. And like you, I’m about to cancel my subscription.

Now I know why Beck didn’t like Palin ... he was deeply afraid she’d beat his boy Romney.

If Romney is the nominee, I WILL NOT VOTE FOR HIM - Period. If that means four more years of Obama I no longer care. Let the country go completely to hell! I am sick of the way the establishment GOP ALWAYS shoves moderates down our throats and I’m not going to take it any more! Also, it will be a cold day in hell before I ever donate another nickel to the Republican Party. Henceforth, I will only donate to specific campaigns or candidates that I choose. The GOP can thake their fundraising letters and shove em where the sun don’t shine! Mr Rancid Prius - you can kiss me on my backside in Macy’s Store window!

"He knows he can give no one a compelling reason to vote for him and he knows he's in trouble if he has to go off script."

Great article and excellent summation.

Can he buy a lot of votes?
Willy-Boy, Willy-Boy.
Can he buy a lot of votes?
Charming Willy.

He can buy a lot of votes,
In a twinkling of his eye.
But he’s cool shark,
And cannot leave his PAC Men.

I voted for Newt yesterday and proud of it.
