Well, I guess Santorum has made his bed with Mittens. Gingrich now has to fight a war on two fronts.
It was bad enough that Mittens went 99% negative on Gingrich but I thought Santorum was a better man than Mittens.
Santorum is trying to skim off enough conservative votes from Gingrich to hand the nomination to Mittens. I had considered Santorum as plan “B” but now there is no plan “B”.
At this point it is NEWT or BUST.
First, Santorum was the choice of Dr James Dobson of Colarado. He swayed the other evanglical leaders to support Santorum. I think Santorum believes he has great support in Colarado and so MUST win in Colorado.
Personally, I supported Santorum in Iowa because Gingrich couldn’t win and encouraged others to deny Romney with the same kind of vote. I supported Santorum in New Hampshire for the same reason, although he, too, couldn’t touch Romney in one of Romney’s many home states.
I supported in Gingrich in S Carolina, because of the strategy of denying Romney. My hope is to deny Romney any delegate I can.
I will support Santorum in Pennsylvania and Gingrich in Georgia. The strategy is to deny Romney.
If nothing else, if my guy can’t win, then I want the Republican convention to select the candidate to run against Obama. If the GOP-E comes up with a liberal, then I’ll not be surprised. On the other hand, they will have clearly and irrevocably spoken.
So far as Santorum’s attacks in Colorado against Gingrich: he has said exactly the same thing in debates. They all sound like policy differences to me, so I don’t see them as personal attacks.
