A campaign not for Romney, but against Gingrich (A blind pig finds an acorn)
The Tacoma News Tribune / The Washington Post ^ | January 31, 2012 | Eugene Robinson

MIAMI – When the empire strikes back, it hits hard. The Republican establishment is deploying every weapon and every soldier – even Bob Dole – in an increasingly desperate attempt to pulverize the Newt Gingrich rebellion. Eventually, the shock-and-awe campaign may work.

But then what? In the establishment’s best-case scenario, the party is left with Mitt Romney, a candidate whose core message, as far as I can tell, seems to be: “Yes, I made a ton of money. You got a problem with that?”

It is remarkable that the well-orchestrated blitzkrieg to save Florida for Romney was designed solely to raise doubts about Gingrich’s character and electability – rather than convince voters that Romney, on the merits, should be president. It makes you wonder whether the GOP luminaries supporting this guy really believe in him.

A statement issued last week by elder statesman Dole began by arguing that “if Gingrich is the nominee it will have an adverse impact on Republican candidates running for county, state and federal offices.” Dole went on to criticize Gingrich as highhanded and erratic, before ending his brief missive with another dose of realpolitik.

“In my opinion if we want to avoid an Obama landslide in November, Republicans should nominate Governor Romney as our standard-bearer,” Dole wrote. “He has the requisite experience in the public and private sectors. He would be a president we could have confidence in.”

“Requisite experience” isn’t much of a hallelujah, yet it’s typical of the pro-Romney chorus that has been singing so loudly since Gingrich won the South Carolina primary. Meanwhile, the voices of some key potential choristers haven’t been heard at all: Two of the most prominent Republicans in Florida, former Gov. Jeb Bush and Sen. Marco Rubio, have declined to endorse anyone for the nomination....

Dole could have easily made the same argument about Jon Corzine six months ago...

Bob Dole is a lobbyist, like so many other RINO failures.

Their only concern is keeping the gravy train running.

IMHO, Romney is being set up like a Little League T-Ball for Obama to whack outta the park in Nov.

Not only does Romney’s “coronation” get rid of the Tea Party and “conservatives” for Rove and his RINO Country Club Status Quo bunch, it helps the dems keep the continuity of their “schtick”.

Obama and Romney are IDENTICAL politically, ESPECIALLY when it comes to the VERY important decision on permanently totally repealing Obamacare.

Obama can counter every political Romney arguement with “I know YOU are, but what am I” and clobber him over the head HARD with the 99% crap that he’s a 1%’er.

Geeee....that only leaves ONE “itty - bitty” difference.

Wanna guess what THAT is?????? Try “skin pigmentation”.

It worked for Obama BIG TIME in 2008. Romney is the ONLY candidate they can REALLY use it on because they are identical in almost every other way.

Romney WON'T attack Obama like he has Newt, because they will pin the "racist" tag on him so fast that his head will spin faster that his political flip-flops.

So Myth will "play nice" with Obama, he'll try to get everyone to sing "America The Beautiful" ( the fake crap he semms to be doing at ALL his Florida stops) and get KILLED in Nov, as is the GOP-e"plan" (see pic above), except Romney AND Rick don't seem to see it......YET.

With the Tea Party out of the way of BOTH parties for 2012 and 2016, Romney out of the way for 2012 AND 2016, the dems TOTALLY despised after 8 years of Obama, Rove and “the boys” can run Jeb for 2016 with NOBODY in their way.

OBTW, The pic below was taken last Friday afternoon Jan27th, 2012 , the day after "Bloody-Up Newt" Thursday by every RINO Country Clubber in this particular corner of the universe.

Now, Obama has been in office for what, say 3 years?

How many photos of those three together have YOU seen??

Pretty much ALL the polls earier in the week had Newt leading in Florida, until the "suddenly" orchestrated RINO Newt attack which culminated Thursday before the debate, and THEN on Friday, I see THIS photo??

What in the heck could the three of them "constructively" have important enough in common to "get together" and talk about??

Maybe Barry just wanted ask them over to find out how "W" was doin', you know, the son and brother of the two guys in the pic who he STILL TO THIS MINUTE blames EVERYTHING bad that has happened to date in his administration on and two years before he replaced him in office???

Yeah, that's the ticket.

I have an idea, and I mentioned it in the post above the pic..

(Sorry, but my Reynolds Wrap cap dang near fell off when I saw it.)

We all going to have to get one of those tin foil hats.

The odds are great you could be on to something. Moderated by HWB, Jeb and Obammy seem to be happy about something.

A post on Intrade had the following to say about Romney:

"Romney has spent about $16 million on attack ads against Gingrich in Florida. That is about twice the sum total of what all the other campaigns have spent on all expenses in the state put together. It is more than twice the total amount raised in the entire primary campaign in 2008 by Mike Huckabee, who won 8 states and about 280 delegates. It is roughly 1/5 of the amount Romney spent on his entire 2008 campaign, even though he ran the most inefficient and expensive primary campaign of the cycle and was forced to put in $35 million of his own money."

"$16 million is roughly the same amount the last two Florida governors spent on their entire gubernatorial campaigns, taking years to raise and many months to spend. It is roughly half the amount Barack Obama spent in Florida in the 2008 general election, including all campaign expenditures. $16 million is more than either Reagan or Carter spent on advertising during the entire national general election campaign. It is about 1/4 the total amounts raised in the 1992 campaign by Bill Clinton and George H. W. Bush."

"Nothing like this, or even remotely approaching it, has ever been seen in American politics. Anyone who knows about it and defends or ignores it is an enemy of democracy and representative government."

I'm not certifying whether the facts noted are true or not. But if true, I couldn't agree more with his conclusion.

When I listen to Romney, all I ever hear him say is what is wrong with Obama. Over and over again. WE KNOW ALL THAT.

Romney never says what Romney will do to FIX anything.

Sure, he says things like “I'll repeal Obamacare. I'll bring back jobs. I'll buy your vote.”

But he never has anything specific at all to say about how or when he'll do anything. “In my first 100 days I'll think about what to do with the Space Program.” (Newt already knows what he wants to do with the Space Program.)

Romney is an egotistical business Executive, and damn good at making money (at other people's expense). But he is a Junior Staffer compared to Gingrich when it comes to Federal Government and knowing how to get things done — the RIGHT things done, regardless of which Washington Insiders he has to piss off to do it.

Damn it Florida, how can you not see this????

[ Yes, he served as governor of Massachusetts and implemented health insurance reforms that became the model for President Barack Obama’s Affordable Care Act ]

Seiously, wtf Are GOP voters thinking? Romney will be a disaster as the GOP nominee. A complete disaster!
