I thought seal team 6 that killed Bin Laden was on that helicopter that crashed in Afghanistan?
The Naval Special Warfare Development Group, or DEVGRU (what people still mistakenly call SEAL Team 6), has several assault groups. There used to be three (Red, Blue and Gold) but it appears that one more may have been created. The team that took out Osama came from Red team according to reports. The team that was killed in the helicopter incident came from Gold team. Thus, the DEVGRU operators that killed Osama were not the ones who died in the crash. All the same it was a very sad incident, and some very brave (and very capable) men died on that day.
