Oakland Mayor Jean Quan said today that she is going to call national leaders of the Occupy Wall Street movement and implore them to disown Oakland's protest movement.
Quan said Saturday's demonstration, where 400 protesters were arrested and City Hall was vandalized, showed that the contingent of protesters who have targeted Oakland were not as non-violent as they claim they are.
"I plan to call some of the national leadership of Occupy this week to say that the Oakland group is not nonviolent and has not agreed to be nonviolent," Quan said in an interview on KCBS. "The national Occupy movement has said they are nonviolent."
Saturday's protest involved protesters throwing objects at police, breaking into buildings and vandalizing property. Some officers were injured in the melee.
According to jail records, many of those arrested were cited for remaining at the scene of a riot. Some were cited and released at the scene and others were taken to jail and booked on the misdemeanor count. Some posted $2,500 bail after being booked.

Imagine, trying to do that job for your community and have the city leadership dump on you for doing it while the scum who throw excrement, corrosives and incendiary devices at you are lauded as heroes by the MSM and some of the fools in power.
All this stuff is just so unbelieveable to me.

They should do what our police here in NJ do when elected officials don’t support them in such cases; they stand down (”de-policing”) and let the animals have at each other. While they stuck to accident reports in the wake of the profiling non-story on the NJ Turnpike (they had been very successful in nabbing drugs & handguns coming north, based on license plates versus visible luggage), every city in northern NJ complained of a spike in handgun & drug violence. To date the police have continued playing the race-pimps game, and more minorities are being shot now in Newark NJ than ever (by other minorities, of course).
Meanwhile, most of the tokens that were hired as reparations have been laid off due to budget constraints.

The citizens of Oakland California deserve the misery that is OWS . Why ? Just look at the moron that THEY ELECTED to be mayor of the city.
I wonder what a major case of “Blue Flu “ would do for the mayor with the Occupy turds wandering around the city trashing the place.

Unfortunately nowadays these jobs are among the best paying and most stable around (once you’ve got a bit of seniority under your belt as protection against layoffs). Civil servants (cops, teachers) that have held onto their jobs are our new upper middle class here in NJ, and as much a part of Obama’s base as our unassimilated permanent underclass. When you rob Peter to pay Paul, you will always have the support of Paul.
