- American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe was impressed with President Obama's short version of the Al Green tune "Let's Stay Together." So much so that he Tweeted the President and invited him to come perform on the show, stating the following
"@BarackObama we loved your vocal performance so much we'd love to invite you on to #AmericanIdol this Season for a duet with Al Green."

I don’t think even Dear Leader Kim inflicted this on his subjects. What you see here is a lesson about how a society can slip into totalitarianism. There are a lot of people yearning for a dictator to worship, even in a free society like ours. Hence, every Democratic president is played up as a brilliant, good looking superstar. Libs sing songs about Dem presidents, Libs want to hear them sing. They are just so enamored by these liberal leaders.
Well, he thinks he’s a rock star anyway. He might just as well go be one and leave the PResidency behind!
I was not surprised to learn that Hussein sings like a girl.

I’ve seen Lythgoe on SYTYCD slipping in comments on the show completely idolatrous of Obama with no provocation or sensibility as to context. My wife liked the show, but once I saw that, I stopped watching completely. If Obama appears on AI, I will NEVER watch the show again.
Lythgoe is totally in the bag for Obama, and he is now the executive producer for AI.

I’ve watched this show for 9 seasons, and will not watch it this year due to Nigel’s tweet. I saw the president’s so-called singing and thought he was drunk as a skunk when doing it. Gee, Nigel, way to torpedo your show.
To be fair, he did have the Bushes do a commercial during one season, and Laura asked George NOT to sing. However, I didn’t detest the Bushes.
That he reportedly rehearsed for hours.
