This isn't exactly the kind of endorsement the Romney campaign is looking for. It's probably even less welcome than the purported nod for Newt Gingrich from crooked GOP congressman Randy "Duke" Cunningham sent from his jail cell.
Speaking in Davos, gathering place for the global elites and upscale chattering classes, billionaire investor George Soros - loathed by conservative activists for his "zillion-dollar left-wing radical agenda machine" - seemed to be pretty much OK with the notion of a Romney presidency.
"Well, look, either youll have an extremist conservative, be it Gingrich or Santorum, in which case I think it will make a big difference which of the two comes in," he told Chrystia Freeland of Reuters in a videotaped interview. "If its between Obama and Romney, there isnt all that much difference except for the crowd that they bring with them."

George Soros says there ‘isnt all that much difference’ between Romney and Obama http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2839338/posts
The truth hurts! Unfortunately, he is right. We can elect either a far leftist President or a leftist President. Your choice - isn’t democracy wonderful?
This is what we have become - voting for not the worst choice. Got to love Democracy!
The real problem for the GOP is that if Romney is actually the nominee - God forbid! - and wins the general, he will govern like Bush, cautiously, predictably establishmentarian. The Dems will be handed the opportunity, once again, to blame the GOP, for they will project all the ramifications of Obama’s damage on the GOP.
Sadly, the left is so ready for Willard. And Willard, because of his ambition, is so willing to let it happen.
Newton Leroy may have some issues, but Willard Mitt is downright dangerous. It would be far better for Newt to lose the general with the contrast firmly etched in people’s minds and thus the resulting damage undeniably pinned to Obama and the Dems than for Romney to eke out a victory and then govern in a business as usual way.
Mitt, you leave me cold ... very, very cold.
As we used to say as kids: takes one to know one!!!
Soros wants Obama reelected. Conservatives don't like Soros and Soros hopes some conservative voters will reject Romney because Soros told them Romney=Obama.
Could it be that Soros is using child psychology on us?
Honestly I do not know. I cannot argue with him on the point that there isn't all that much difference between Mitt and Obama. Romney lies without the aid of a teleprompter.
disagree—no one is as bad or viscious as Obama. He does not respect Congress, the courts or anything but himself. We could easily lose our freedom of speech under him.
I agree with that. To me Soros is saying this because he feels that he can manipulated Romney just like he did with Obama.
Didn’t that old Dixiecrat George Wallace say their wasn’t a dimes worth of difference between the Democrats and the Republicans? Maybe he was right. Wallace changed from being a strict segregationist into being rather liberal about race—his last election was due to the black vote in his state. He became the best friend blacks had—Proving people can change.
guess georgie will donate to both equally then, if there’s not much difference...
Very well said and my thoughts exactly.
I think the GOP’s salivating over all of the new precedents Obama’s set. He’s given them a lot of new toys to play with when they’re in positions of power to use them.
You are correct. Under President Romney Obamacare will become fully implemented. Romney may tinker with it a little but will not repeal it. The dirty secret is big corporations want to offload the cost of medical care on the government. Under Obamacare a corporation spending $8000 per employee for medical care benefits can dump its medical plan and pay a $2000 annual fine per employee to the government. This represents a $6000 savings per employee. A company with 1000 employees will save $6 million per year by dumping it’s medical plan. a large corporation with 100,000 employees will save $600 million per year. Romney’s buddies on Wall Street can’t wait for this bonanza to occur in 2014. This is the real reason Boehner and the Republican Congess have done nothing to stop or slow down the implementation of Obamacare.
Once millions of employees lose their company paid medical care and have to go into the market to pay $8000 or more out of pocket for insurance, the Democrats know the public will demand a single payer government funded system. The Dems will bash the heartless corporations for dropping employee medical plans and gladly support a government single payer program. This has been their goal all along and the Republican establishment has been playing with them all the way.
One of the first acts of the GOP when they were sworn in last election was an attempt to stop funding of ObamaCare. The establishment in the rules committee immediately rejected the bill and we haven’t heard a peep since.
