Howie’s wife was vile, but Howie is no prize. I like the guy, but the way he wrote off his first family says a lot about him. He always talks about his 3 daughters, well, he’s got five daughters. Two from his first marriage that he’s pushed out of his life. I don’t care how bad his first marriage was...those 2 girls don’t deserve what he did to them. No father should do that. Looks like he’s getting “payback” with the second wife, and another bad marriage.

It’s never ending, he just won’t stop. I always give him a chance, which he proceeds to blow within minutes.

I just listened to the replay, OMG what a nag, you can hear the venom dripping from her tongue - if you go here look halfway down the page for something entitled "the lovely Mrs. Carr" click on it and you can listen to it

Listening to it now. Incredible!

I can't believe they put that on the air!

Is it my imagination, or have almost all of the inept candidates for president over the past 30 years had some major connections to Massachusetts?

After last night in Florida, it appears there’s going to be another Bay State pol in this year’s finals. So let’s hope Mitt Romney doesn’t run the same type of lame-o campaigns that everyone else from the Bay State has unleashed on the nation over the past 30 years or so.

First of all, Mitt: No tank rides.

And no dressing up in the space suit like John Kerry did, so he looked like a sperm in Woody Allen’s “Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex But Were Afraid to Ask.” What was the headline that ran with that John Kerry picture: “Houston, We Have a Problem!”

Learn from Liveshot, Mitt. No condescending sentences that begin, “Can I get me,” as in “Can I get me a waiver from Romneycare here?” And no, “You know, I actually voted for the $87 billion before I voted against the $87 billion.” No giving out baseball scores like a tennis match: “Tigers 3, Red Sox [team stats] 5.”

But why pick on Liveshot Kerry? At least he can pronounce the state he represents. How about Barack Obama, who spent three years in what he calls “Massa-TU-setts.”

This recent star-crossed tradition of local presidential candidates began with Ted Kennedy in 1980. Remember how Roger Mudd asked him why he was running and Teddy forgot?

Then there was 1988. Both candidates, Mike Dukakis and George H.W. Bush, were born in Norfolk County. Bush moved away early and thus was able to salvage his political career. As for Dukakis — where do you begin with that clownish 1988 campaign of his? Think Willie Horton. (Thanks, Al Gore!)

Hey, Mitt: If you’re ever asked in a debate about some female member of your family being raped, just leap across the table and throttle the moderator.

Then there was 1992 and Paul Tsongas. He was doing OK until his campaign treasurer absconded with his entire campaign account. That won’t be a problem with Mitt.

Next comes 2000, and two more candidates with local connections, George W. Bush and Al Gore. You can always tell a Harvard man, but you can’t tell him much.

Massachusetts candidates all seem to have serious problems with sports. In 2004, Kerry claimed to have stalked a 24-point buck and run in the Marathon (but couldn’t recall the year). As for Mitt, he too is a veritable Nimrod, an Elmer Fudd. He claimed he’d taken out ... varmints.

Somehow, I’d feel a lot better about Mitt’s chances if his middle name were “Adams” or “Coolidge.”

Hey, Fox News Boston did about three other stories first. They led with the story that Quincy police are going to start an outreach campaign to teach Asian pedestrians to watch out for cars when crossing the street. Three struck by cars so far this year, two dead.

Nicky Pockets shook down my dad and uncle when they were trying to open a business when he was mayor of Peabody when I was a little kid. My dad told me the story recently and I asked him what they did.He said they had no choice but to pay or it wasn’t gonna happen. Nicky P.can rot in hell....

Thanks! A couple family members taking me out to dinner tomorrow night, a couple friends doing the same on Sat., and then I get to enjoy the super bowl on Sunday.
I’m about 10 yrs behind Howie so I always know how old he is.
He was born 1/17/52 and I was born 2/2/62. So now that he’s 60, I’m about to turn 50.

Indeed....though I’ll bet many here on the North Shore “admire” him because he brought home the bacon/pork in terms
of business for the G.E. (Armed Services committee). As I may have mentioned further above, a college classmate of mine (who came orig. from Peabody) was doing a trivia show at a Lynn restaurant and one question, which I got right, was
“what was Mavroules’ nickname?”

“Nicky Pockets!” I yelled out.
Yup

:)

Thanks for the RKO info.

You think after everything, Howie’s going to finally bolt RKO? Outside of maybe 1200 AM, methinks his options are limited in this economy (see Ordway, Glenn).

It just struck me -- Bain Capital owns (at least in large part) Clear Channel . . . maybe that explains why Howie so readily hopped in the bag for Mitt.
