I know it’s not cool around here, but I always liked Rudy, mainly because as a regular reader of the New York Post I became very familiar with how much the liberals HATED him when he was mayor. Their hatred for Giuliani was freaking visceral! One of the funniest examples was when Danny Glover breezed into town from Hollywood and claimed the cabs in Giuliani’s New York wouldn’t pick him up because he’s black.
If he didn’t have to sell his soul and take positions on issues he actually cared NOTHING about - - primarily abortion - - in order to get elected mayor of NYC, he would be a conservative favorite right now, believe me. Giuliani is a very likeable, conservative guy. He was truly a great mayor for NYC. He brought the place out of the swamp and showed terrific leadership during the 9/11 terror attacks.
(shrug) Maybe it’s just from following his tenure as mayor on a near-daily basis, but I like the guy.
Mittens he ain’t.
Lancey, I always like the movie The Hustler better than The Cincinnati Kid.
That may be because Minnesota Fats was a real guy who claimed little Egypt in Illinois as his home which is somewhere that I have an affinity for.
But I agree with you, I have always liked Rudy.
He had street smarts.
Lancy Howard had street smarts as did Minnesota Fats.
Rudy was a prosecutor who had street smarts or he would not have taken down organized crime in NY-NJ.
Rudy was a Republican prosecutor who was street smart, he was no elitist Republican prosecutor such as Thomas Dewey or elistist corporate raider with a storied political name such as Willard Romney.
Liking him was, and still is, cool. Just, not as our President. He was, and still is, America’s Mayor.
Attorney General? Slam dunk!
I also like Rudy. Sure, he isn’t as conservative on the social issues as I’d like, but, I darn sure love listening to him when he speaks. He’s inspiring.
