The reality is that a large percentage of the GOP base... simply does not give a damn about either Romney or Gingrichs or anyone elses record.
They are 100% focused on figuring out who, in their best estimation, can defeat Obama.
So we nominate the most inoffensive, most likely to succeed, most universally approved candidate. Even better, we've used this strategy before.

Just observed that it’s what seems to be happening.
That said, a good plan — based on real-world observations — might be to focus on selling the electability of one’s preferred candidate. Newt MUST make this a more prominent part of his pitch or I fear he’s sunk.
