The author, George Weigel, is the predominant papal historian. He is very knowledgable about current affairs and his philosophy is very well based.
He has written many books and articles on this and other similar subjects.
His writing is probably the same quality as that of W. F. Buckley. One needs a dictionary to read it, but it’s so logical you somehow follow and end up knowing a whole lot.
Preeminent is the word I wanted, not predominent. Oh well.
“it became a country in which women were ever more the victims of predatory and sexually irresponsible men”
Women aren’t victims of this. They have been in the forefront of pushing and defending abortion, the denigration of marriage, the changing of the law to give themselves economic rents, etc. No one honest pushes this sort of sentimental pap anymore. Both men and women are among the victimizers and victims.
That’s the best kind or read. I enjoy reading Robert H.Bork because he provides a view of the legal system I get few places other than from him. Just from this short piece I can see why you reply as you did. I urge you to keep reading —and passing it along for the rest of us to be blessed.
