Are those $2 bills?
From the headline, you’d have thought it’d be in the thousands not fifty bucks or so.

Not too many...Although they are legal currency! I have some from when I visited the US Mint in Washington DC from years ago. They are probably worth quite a bit in a place like Venezula.....

Your bank will get them if you request.
When I was manager of a coal mine 30 years ago, our company found itself the target of an anti-mining campaign which led to the local newspaper asking what value we provided to “the community.”
In the Monday safety meeting, I announced that $200 of every employee's bi-weekly paycheck would be in $2 bills, adding that anyone who didn't want to be paid this way could say so. No one did.
In the week following, hundreds of $2 bills showed up in other banks, grocery stores, gas stations and virtually every retail outlet with 60 miles.
The newspaper called after some detective work on where the $2’s were coming from. It didn't take long to make our point...

It came from a mining buddy in Ohio who felt picked on.

I have a few, but they are in my "interesting money" jar along with a couple silver certificates, a dollar bill with a lot of zeros in its serial number, a handful of silver coins from when you still found one occasionally circulating and some non-Canadian foreign coins.
Maybe I need to separate out the old fashioned Lincoln Memorial pennies like I used to do with wheat pennies.

youd have thought itd be in the thousands not fifty bucks or soYeah, but the point is that ordinary Venezuelans are severely limited in their access to dollars and have to pay double the official rate on the black market if they can even get them there.
