If he lost their might be a liberal put in his place, and Santorum wanted to make sure conservative judges were nominated. Santorum looks at the BIG picture and what is best for the country. You don’t understand politics, you sometimes have to choose what will have the best long term effect. Like voting for Romney over McCain because Romney might be better. But four years latter you vote against Romney and for someone more conservative.
