Romney had his best debate so far, and scored some serious blows to Newt. (Doesn't change the fact that I despise him, and he comes across as a whiney “poor me” candidate.)
Newt did “ok” but not his usual outstanding performance.
Ron Paul didn't do too bad.
The audience was extremely stacked for Romney.
Blitzer couldn't seem to ask more than a single question without that didn't try to bait Newt and Romney against each other, specifically attacking Newt.
And it was quite telling that Blitzer made a big deal out of the last question being a question that was going to include, gasp, “Barack Obama.” Can you imagine? Asking a question relevant to the General election?? Amazing.
I know what you mean but I think we also have to look at what was being asked for questions.
Newt does best on questions about policy. Many of the questions were to pin him and Romney against each other based on ads and attacks or why would your wife make a good first lady.
I noticed when Mitt would speak Wolf would give time for applause, but when others would speak he would cut to someone else or a different question.
The only thing I wish Newt would do is talk more when it's his turn. He tends to say his piece and stop. Romney takes every opportunity to ramble on and on. Romney makes me sick.
