Could cramming a piece of bacon up your nose stop an uncontrollable nosebleed? Some doctors in Michigan say yes. They say the fatty pork helped save the life of a four year old girl whose nose would not stop bleeding. The child was diagnosed with Glanzmann's thrombasthenia, a rare genetic platelet disorder, and doctors were able to stop her nose bleed twice with bacon.

They recommend raw bacon. One of doctors recalled the recommendation he had head in a surgical field manual while in the military -- use pork to stop bleeding.

I suspect that a Jewish person would not object to bacon being used as a compress to stop bleeding, as long as he didn’t have to eat it. But, a Muslim would. Moreover, I might object to having raw bacon shoved up my nose, even though I have noreservations about eating it cooked. ;^)
