When President Obama landed in Phoenix on Wednesday, he was greeted with sunny skies and a kerfuffle with Republican Gov. Jan Brewer.
After welcoming the president upon his arrival, Obama told Brewer he didnt like the way he was characterized in her book, Scorpions for Breakfast, the governor told reporters traveling with the president.
But Obama didnt feel that I had treated him cordially in the book, the governor said.
In the book, Brewer complains about one meeting at the White House with Obama -- centered around immigration and border security -- writing, It was though President Obama thought he could lecture me, and I would learn at his knee.
Initially, Brewer called the meeting cordial. But in the book, she walked back the sentiment, calling the president patronizing.
In a rare move, the White House put out their own statement quoting a White House official: The governor handed the President a letter and said she was inviting him to meet with her. The president said hed be glad to meet with her again, but did note that after their last meeting, a cordial discussion in the Oval Office, the governor inaccurately described the meeting in her book. The president looks forward to continuing taking steps to help Arizonas economy grow.
At one point in the tense conversation on Wednesday, Brewer pointed her finger at Obama and at another time, they were talking over one another, according to a White House pool report.
Obama appeared to walk away from Brewer in the middle of their conversation, according to the pool report.
I said I was sorry he felt that way but I didnt get my sentence finished, she said. Anyway, were glad hes here. Ill regroup.
The book is what the book is, Brewer added. I asked him if he read the book. He said he read the excerpt. So.
Brewer said she handed Obama what she called a personal letter asking him to sit down with her to discuss the Arizona comeback.
She said she reiterated an invitation that Ive extended to him before with regards to coming to Arizona and going to the border with me.
Weve had a remarkable comeback here and I want to share that with him, Brewer said. I thought we probably wouldve talked about the things that were important to him and important to me, helping one another.
Arizona was upside down, she continued. But we have turned it around. I know again that he loves this country and I love this country.
“I know again that he loves this country”
I have a hard time believing this. However, I do believe that Gov. Brewer is a little pitbull and has the balls that many in the GOP lack.
Perhaps conditions can be created so he will self-deport.................
Ah. Cordiality. This is how Obama is cordial to people:
What a pussy. The thin-skinned POS can contemptuously dish it out, but whines like a baby when someone gives it back to him.
He hasn’t treated Texas much better, when he came here Perry met him at the plane to give him a letter - also about border control... he totally ignored Perry. That ass clown definitely is a legend in his own mind.
0bama has a strange way of showing his affection for this nation. He love himself we do know that.
This president is so thin skinned and petty. How the hell did he ever get in a position that even Leftists would put him up for the job?
I forgot about that “all this for a flag” incident. That contrasts really well with his SOTU speech citing the flag the SEALs carried into battle with Bin Laden. This man has no values or morals.
This little punk-ass of a president has skin thinner than a condom. Brewer should have told him ‘’tough, you can’t stand the heat get out of the kitchen’’.
Unadulterated scum.
Yep, Brewer is dreaming.
Sometimes politicians say things for political purposes. Just like sometimes we tell someone their butt doesn’t look fat in those pants...
