As a space worker, I’m thrilled that he’s enthusiastic about space. But I don’t agree with his plan to disband the NASA structure and give it all to private companies. It’s fine to give some work to the private companies (as those companies are now developing craft to space station), but NASA has a purpose to ensure safety of the vehicles going to space station. Also NASA is running the space station now. I’m assuming he wouldn’t change the current structure to give management of space station to a private company. The overhead would be too great.

Spaceworker here. I was reacting to what I heard, but once I listened to it, I thought what he said was perfect.

Go Newt!

Exactly. And Gingrich knows that private companies will never be able to compete with NASA. They just don’t have the monetary resources. The wealthiest corporation could never send people to Mars or even the Moon. They couldn’t even send un-manned probes to the planets. They could put up some satellites, but thats about it. It’s bad enough obama has ended our manned space program, but I fear NASA would be done away with completely under Gingrich. Then the US would have no space program whatsoever. Russia and China would love that.
