WASHINGTON -- In a daring nighttime raid Tuesday, U.S. Navy SEALs rescued two hostages, including one American, who were being held by kidnappers in Somalia, U.S. officials tell NBC News.
American Jessica Buchanan, 32, and a 60-year-old Dane, Poul Thisted, were working for a Danish relief organization in northern Somalia when they were kidnapped last October.
U.S. officials described their kidnappers as heavily armed common criminals with no known ties to any organized militant group.
According to the U.S. officials, two teams of Navy SEALs landed by helicopter near the compound where the two hostages were being held.
As the SEALS approached the compound on foot gunfire broke out, the U.S. officials said, and several of the militants were reportedly killed.
There is no word that any of the Americans were wounded.

Good on the Seals for another daring mission successfully completed.

Looks like the timing of the news was off by about four hours. Would have expected Obongo to announce this one personally in SOTU. /sarcasm
Schweet.
Joe Biden again?
The Dear Leader will soon take full credit.
Get some!!!!! USA! Our warriors.
U.S. officials described their kidnappers as heavily armed common criminals with no known ties to any organized militant group.
Yet we acquired actionable intel on them from some unknown ties somehow.
Now for the all important question in the eyes of the liberals: Did the SEALs read the "common criminals" their rights?
God I love our men in uniform. We believe in you.
The 32 year-old woman, immersed in her relief organizations and her UN and her NGO’s has never seen a man like a US Navy SEAL. Then several descend from the sky to save her life. She might be excused for being a little wet.
And our guys, sworn to uphold the Constitution, should adopt a new salute: spit on the ground whenever they are required to speak Obama-bastard’s name. Then salute the office, not the boy.
They would have been there sooner but the case of commemorative battle flags that they were forced to haul on the mission slowed them down quite a bit.
Let’s hope we just killed them all.
Pretty important people to send two SEAL teams after them. I don’t want a SEAL shot to rescue 2 hostages. What gives? I hope they took out some important target in this raid and the hostages were a bonus.
I’d like all the would-be kidnappers to have cionstant nightmares of SEALS coming to visit.
Outstanding. Gotta love these guys.
Thank God for the SEALS!
No, he took credit . Check the. 2nd story in the link.
Definitely wasn’t a fair fight.
See I was not even watching tonight, hardly. Oops.
“U.S. officials described their kidnappers as heavily armed common criminals with no known ties to any organized militant group.”
But
“As the SEALS approached the compound on foot gunfire broke out, the U.S. officials said, and several of the militants were reportedly killed.”
Gee, no contradiction there. /SARC
Just got off a 12 hour shift....what a nice bedtime story.
I’ll be dropping off to sleep with pleasant images of a flying can of whoop-ass dropping out of the sky and our boys unloading upon the lawless.
Damn nice ending to a day.
