Thanks - pure leftist slimecrap. Pure. Turns out someone above (I think) posted that Hume’s son killed himself when pulled over by a cop, and the son had illegal drugs.

Eva, why even bring this up? Lies? And say “We’ll all hate Newt”? Who are YOU voting for??

Ya know. I have always felt I was somewhat politically informed and up to date on events. I have never heard this story until now. I read the article in the link provided, dated January 12, 2012. It is full of speculation, suggestion and innuendo. If he was outed, he should have been. It is sad he chose to end his life, but there is always more to a suicide than just one event. Guess what, I still love newt and so far, he has my vote.

Supposedly, this little "insider knowledge" is supported by Joe Scarborough, but I couldn't find anything leading back to Scarborough.

Here's what Scarborough says about Gingrich: "He was a great revolutionary out in the field. And Newt Gingrich was able to organize and put together a winning team. And Republicans took control of the House for the first time in a generation. I mean, I didn’t even believe it. I remember when the results were coming in — and we were talking about this before — and somebody shouted when I won — I wasn’t supposed to win. Of course, just for the record, Newt was working against me the whole time. He thought I was too conservative for my district. Nice call, Newt."

"But anyway. I get up on stage and somebody said, “We won the House!” I said you’re kidding me. So I give Newt credit for dragging a lot of people over the line that normally wouldn’t win."

This story has all the hallmarks of an invented hit piece.

Names that the gullible won't investigate because they have already bought the line and already "know." It suits their prejudices.

Unverifiable attributions. Salacious rumors you "just know" are true, but no one will verify.

Even if Hume's son was having a gay affair with Paxton (in 1980 that would have killed both their careers) who was going to benefit from exposing it?

Hume's son is dead, from a self-inflicted gun shot wound. He's not around to set the record straight and you can be sure Newt's enemies aren't going to. But a Democrat with an ax to grind would get mileage in the gay community by spreading this around.

You can almost hear it: "Newt Gingrich is the speaker and he'll expose you because he's a republican, and you know what could happen to you from a bunch of right-wingers."

It's classic fear mongering, rumor mongering, and just the sort of tactic democrats like to use to keep people in fear and dependency.
