The GOP establishment will try to embarrass him just like they did with Sarah Palin. The difference is that Newt is one mean ornery SOB.
He is. And he learned from being railroaded as Speaker. They won’t do it again. He knows what to expect.
The GOP establishment had a lot of help from other parties when they took out Sarah (and Cain), but the point is well made.
Newt is proving to be a much harder nut to crack because he’s been around this game a long time and knows how it’s played. In the King debate, his response epitomized the oldest defense maxim there is.
“The best defense is a good offense.”
I really don’t know if any Republican establishment type that would have a ghost of a chance against Newt. If there were any, they’d already be running.
In a different forum, one poster said that, at this point, the establishment RINOS would rather lose to Obama than win with Newt, simply because Obama would screw things up totally in his second term and they could waltz to victory in 2016 with an acceptable standard bearer (Jeb).
The flaw in that idea, obviously, is that there is not likely to BE a United States of America if we have to suffer another four years of Obama.
