Actually, if I remember right, during the Katrina days, Bush considered putting the Mormons in charge of relief efforts because they already had such a large network of relief workers in place. Of course anyone would have been preferred to the government, but I think it does say something about their experience with providing charity.

If that had been the truth, the mormon PR peolple whould have had it on every public venue imaginable.
